speedo, half tank and a pair of chuck taylors. Anything other than this means you aren't serious.

WTF? Need to see pic of speedo at gym. That would beyond inappropriate.

Speaking of which, some guys actually wear their boxers to the gym!

Quite frankly, I wouldn't feel comfortable weightlifting while going commando.

Is squatting barefoot a good idea? Shoes sound like they would be give you better balance and support, especially the flat ones like Chucks or whatever (which I don't wear and hate).

For squatting:

Squat shoes >> Barefoot (or VFFs) > Chuck Taylors >>>> Sneakers

For everything else (deadlift, press, etc):

Barefoot (or VFFs) > Chuck Taylors > Squat Shoes >>>> Sneakers

For squats, doesn't it depend on the type of squat you're doing? I know dave tate and louie simmons recommend them because the sole is flat. They did an article on EFS in (I think) muscle and fitness and all the guys were wearing chucks.

Yup, good point. Front squats, high bar back squats and low bar back squats with a normal (shoulder width) stance are typically all better with squat shoes. Very wide stance powerlifting style squats, that have the knees way back and the shins vertical, benefit from flat shoes such as chucks.

I won because Red Dawn imagined me.

Looking back I really should have called him the next day.

I still have that pic of you on South Beach

Oly shoes are fairly expensive but they are f0cking great and bad ass...lifting singlet is about £35...I don't care how much my stuff costs. It's comfy and I train in it and I have a bunch of training clothes due to the amount that I train.

I have 4 pairs of Oly shoes :D, one my bros using, one I've given to my mate, one pair at work and a pair in my gym bag.
