GW2 and problems with AVG and or firwall

I just got the game yesterday, and tried to download it and got an error message saying cannot download no internet connection, which I did have internet connection. I went through their support and they had me run an executable game advisor and I sent them the report when it was complete. The gave me step by step instructions on setting up AVG's wirewall settings, and set that was the issue, but that simply didn't help. So I completely uninstalled my AVG (first time I have had issues with AVG and gaming). Then the download worked. But once I got into the the game I couldn't join event groups or other party members, and this code error message popped up saying that it either couldn't connect to their server, or firewall settings or router settings were preventing me from joing groups and or a campus network.

I have never had so many issues with a game concerning firewall, etc.

Has anyone else experienced this with this game? I am searching google trying to come up with an easy lay persons step by step to setting up the windows firewall settings for this game.

I only have Microsoft Security Essentials running now, and my malwarebytes.

I am waiting for their support to get back with me too. Ugh, starting to wonder if I should just ask for my money back and uninstall the game.

Oh forgot to add, I have an old linxsys router, and netgear adapater for wireless, it runs very smooth on most my games.. but not sure if that is the issue.
