The OP is right. The actions and positions of the Bush administration and its flock of self-proclaimed Christians are diametrically opposed to those of Christ. I think the author discredited herself by unnecessarily bringing up the 2nd Amendment and Mary's marital status at the time of conception.

That's a nifty rationalization. No matter how much you obsess about it, abortion is only one issue, one "sin" if you will. There are hundreds of other, equally significant sins the Bush administration routinely commits, but the anti-abortion zealots ignore them all.

By the way, Bush isn't going to outlaw abortion anyway. Those who support Bush thinking he will are deluding themselves. That issue generates way too many automatic votes for Republicans for them to sacrifice it. You have been duped. They need people like you who fixate on abortion to the exclusion of everything else. They don't want you waking up to all their malfeasance you ignore today.

Funny, although I am agnostic, I feel an urge to defend Christians.

No where in the bible does Jesus support forced welfare or wealth redistribution. All of that is supposed to be VOLUTARY. Socialism is NOT Christian as it does not involve "free will." Forced charity is no charity at all.

As for being against war, Christians haven't been peaceful since Constantine. Pretty much their entire history. Any time they have been non-violent, they ended up as lion food. Pretty much the same for any religion.
