So the noob (me) got a GV number today and I've got it working in a manner that's acceptable to me. I don't think I can have it work the way I envisioned it would work but that's another story.

At one point during the process I was asked to "please say your name", may have been state your name, whatever. I just made up a name not understanding it was something that was going to be recorded.

Now when a GV call comes in to the number I set up for it to forward to, I hear, call from "Mike Martin" - the name I made up. This works because I then know it's a GV call coming in, but I'd like to change that name to something else.

I can't figure out where to do it.

Can anyone help? I've torn out all six of my hairs in frustration.

I figured it out. Each unique number that called would have received the prompt for a name. I kept hearing 'Mike Martin' when I called from my home number testing it out because that was the name associated with that number - the name I had spoken when prompted.

I found how to turn that off.

Click the gear on the upper-right, select Voice Settings

Click the Calls tab

Turn off Call Screening
