I think that Dallas athletes just have a talent for knowing what will get them arrested. They're like teenagers that are starved for attention who start committing small crimes.

<< Donato and Bouck were charged with violating Tampa's adult use entertainment ordinance, which police have said they intend to enforce leading to the Super Bowl on Jan. 28. >>

They violated a local ordinance banning lap dances. That's the "crime".

Not saying I agree with that being a crime, but geez... these guys should have used some common sense and gone to a club in a different city without that law. It's their own fault.

Apparently they say they were busted right after walking in the door. Doubtful... if that is the case then charges will be dropped.

But what I don't understand is why the strippers weren't responsible? If a club is practicing something 'illegal' shouldn't they be held accountable?

This is very surprising to me, b/c I always thought lap dances and strip bars go hand-in-hand.

I'm more willing to believe an overzealous conservative was the culprit for this law. Probably right around some election he was running in.

I live in oklahoma, which for those who don't know is just above texas. This doesn't surprise me at all. The influence of the baptist here in the bible belt is overwhelming. Churches out number gas stations! It's sad in my opinion, because everyone spends their time and happiness obsessing about who does what, and what is morally acceptable for EVERYone as opposed to what is right for them. And i love how the seperation of church and state somehow allows them to influence law makers and politicians to create such laws. Of course the law enforcement doesn't mind, because they've got a guaranteed easy way to get multiple arrests every night. And the state gets tons of money in fines and bail. And that's what it's all about....lining pockets

I live here in Tampa and the srotry is a bit deeper than reported. The wouldn't have been busted simply "walking in the door", the law in question is one that states the dancers must stay 6' from patrons, hence, no lap dances. The owner of this world-renowned (Really a dump, IMHO) "men's club" is a guy named Joe Redner, a real ass, that does everything he can to piss off the local government. He will not win that battle. Guess what? The Super Bowl is going on less than 3 miles from there, on the SAME STREET. I *wonder* who ELSE will get busted? John Madden? I could see his bus parked outside.. with a boot on it. lol
(Thanks, Jamey)

That's quite an ordinance. If the stripper gets closer than 6" you are required to push her away.

Yeah, Right!

I have a feeling you push a stripper away and you are gonna get your hand busted by the bouncers. Seems pretty unfair to be arresting the patrons, I would think a law like this would fine the dancers. It's insane to think that a patron of one these clubs is going to stop the girl from doing something illegal. This would make for a serious entrapment case, just get undercover cops and dancers and sit in all the patrons laps and then arrest them. Nothing you could really do about it if someone walked up and sat in your lap.

What I find sad is that these guys, who should be able to get all the lap dances they want for free, would have to go to a strip club and pay for them. Do they have no self-confidence?

<< Left wing Ted Donato >>

If he's left wing, it serves him right.

BTW, the "zone" is a very common ordinance all over the country. It's been enacted to reduce the amount of hooking that goes on in these clubs.

Sweetrobin,

You're much better than those homely chicks that love to complain about anything.

they players were out of the station in 90 minutes, im sure the cops slept wel that night with the knowledge of a job well done..sigh

in the time that they "saved" the players from those horrible lap dances, 3 people were murdered, 1 of those will go unsolved. but at least i can rest easy knowing that as i walk down a dark alleyway, beautiful women will not jump out and give me a lap dance!!

SuperSix,

Have you ever met Mr. Redner? He is a much better person than our Mayor Dick. He runs a perfectly legal business that the city is pissed off about because they can't make a bunch of money off of it because Joe is much better at business than they are at government.
