Guys. quick question on compusa extended warranties

hey guys im buying a fairly new laptop for my sista from this person and along with it comes a 3yrs compusa warranty.

thing is he doesnt have the receipt anymore nor any proof of purchase except for the warranty brochure :-/ comes w/ everything so no it doesnt seem like its stolen.

questions:

-are the compusa brochure just like best psp (they print data on the back?)
-when in need of compusa warranty, can they look it up by say the laptop serial number if no.1 is a NO.
-what can i do to have the warranty on it confirmed. (any confirm answers on this?)

the info should be in there computer

all you should have to do is give them the phone number that was given to them when the service plan was purchased, they should be able to look it up, and match serial numbers

btw- i work at compusa;)

yea i dun wanna purchase it and later on be outta luck compusa cant find it. he is though in texas and im in TX too so i guess the servers be the same?

any experience you wanna share w/ compusa warranties? better than what BB service provides? i know BB psp's are HORRIBLE, they take their time w/ repairing, not finishing on time losing paperwork, GOOD IN LYING and what not
i use to work for BB so i know ;)

i think the techs at compusa are better, and usually they will fix the computer there, unless it still covered by the manuf. warrenty then they might send it out

but in our tech shop we have a guy that mainly does laptops

i would get the guys phone number address and info like that as well as the serial number for the computer

then walk into a compusa and make sure it comes up on there computer

just so you don't get it and find out there was never a warrenty that he bought

the service plan follows the computer so just ask a manager ahead of time,

let them know that you will be buying a laptop from this person and ask them what needs to be done to change the contact info in the company computer system

I can tell you that when I went to use the compusa warrenty they told me "without the reciept no warrenty"

Of course once they had the receipt they had to comfirm it with the computer.

im in MN, perhaps we run things different, but i was able to look up a ladies purchase from may of this year just because she had given me a phone number

I bought the CPU in San DIego, I took it to Bloomington, MN COmpusa.

I had my old address and old phone number, I had called to update my info. They had my new number because they called and Asked if I wanted to extend the warrenty out.

I had to find the receipt though. I did and they fixed the laptop and I sold it.
