I have three Brother laser printers, same model, all purchased separately over an 18 month period of time. Each one has both parallel and USB printer ports, but the USB ports malfunction every few minutes. I thought it was a problem with the Inspiron 7500 when it first happened. The 7500 works beautifully with an HP Inkjet using the USB port so that eliminated the 7500 as the problem. Even our Inspiron 8500 has the same problem with the Brother printer using the USB port. I finally figured out that the Brother USB port connections just do not fit tightly enough. If you have any bright ideas about how to fix such a simple problem, I would welcome your input.
