My car at dealership and i cant pick it up until I get insurance, what big companies you know that sell insurance over the phone

here the ones are contacted
GEICO very expensive
Progressive wont do business since i dont have policy now
Amex same as progressive
Allstate high quote
Farmstate same thing
AIG best quote
Amica gave me excellent rate but it will take long time to get

I'd say get the cheapest of those insurance(s) for a month, so you can get your car back. Then look up cheap insurance for the next months to come afterwords.

By your description up top, I say read the fine print of AIG and go for that if you need it quickly and with the best rate.

If all of those are coming back as expensive, maybe it's time to re-evaluate your driving habits.

Location may play a huge factor as well.

Moving from a larger city in Illinois(Peoria), to a small, rural town in Iowa dropped my insurance rates in half.

Car insurance is based on:

1) Prior driving record (accidents, tickets, etc)
2) Age
3) Car you are driving
4) Where you live
5) How much you drive

Living in a big city, or driving an expensive car, will kill your rates just as soon as a ticket would. As far as getting a quick policy, have you checked with local agents at all? Not all insurance comes from a 1-800 number, and they are much more likely to misquote you than if you walk into a local agents office (I had a really bad experience with GEICO, not sure if the lady just used the wrong car to model my rate, or the wrong age, but she quoted me a rate that was about half what it should have been).

If you don't have any tickets and you have an Erie agent close by, you might want to call them up. They typically have good rates, but can be sticklers about driving records.

How far from the cities do you have to be before this happens?
