under $500?

i say strew rose petals all over the place in her apartment and either cook yourself or get some really awesome takeout.

Good food in SF is all on the top floor of the big hotels. And if you're near SF, just go to Tiffany's and be done with it :)

Yes you can. There's two big rooms in Tiffany's...One for the bazillionaires, and one for guys like you and me :)

Get her a pendant necklace with her birthstone in it. you can size it to the money you have available.ie... Emeralds are more expensive than Amethyst so you would get smaller emerald. I have been married 12 years. Jewelry is the way to go. Next present matching earrings, next matching ring. You have got to think ahead for next present. FWIW

tdog44632,

I had that idea sometimes ago but guess what? her brithstone for april is Diamond :( <------COst a lotta money!!!! But I'll take a look at the mall see if i can get her something in a jewelry store. Thanks for the suggestion. I find it very hard to purchase meaningful gifts for that special someone every single year :( <----Am I picky?

Man thats tough but the idea can still work. pick a stone that goes with her coloring. Emeralds are really nice, semi expensive but not out of this world. Gold jewelry can be good. Swarnioski crystal is nice also can get figurine of something she collects. "Precious Moments statue are nice and more pieces can be added. Lladro figurines are more in your price range.

In the SF area - my parents and my bf and I went on a dinner cruise on the Hornblower yachts. That's a thought, pretty romantic around the Bay.

[Edit] It's not hard to find jewlery under $500, but I think that it might be more worth it to make a real day of it that she'll never forget. How about picking up cheap tickets and fly her to France or something just for lunch. ;) Definitely on the order of a unique gift.
