There is nothing wrong with Load and ReLoad.

Nothing, unless you consider a complete slap in the face of the fans who made you who you are to be okay.

So a band writing music that you don't like is a slap in the face to all their fans? 'Tallica has said from day one they play what they want to play and if you don't like it there's the door. I'm sure there are plenty of bands that will only play what their fans want to hear.

BTW, Kirk has multiple writing credits on every album save for Kill'em All. And if you break it down by percentages Puppets is the most "Kirk influenced" of any 'tallica album (he has writing credit on 5 of the 8 tracks). So by your formula of "Kirk + more writing = crappier metallica" Master of Puppets should be Metallica's worst album ever. 😛

the term 'sell-out' only applies to Metallica if you're talking about their last six stadium tours.

You think I'm the only one with this opinion? Hardly.

It's hard to quantify "writing credits", just listing someone's name doesn't mean they wrote the whole song, or even the major theme of it. I'm just going by what I've read in interviews concerning Load and Reload.

i agree with eli. people that call metallica sellouts need to get a nice smack in the face. they matured, their music has matured. people don't even use the term sell-out correctly...

as far as this guy, i don't have sound on this library computer, but it looks real for the most part. it's *somewhat* impressive. i still hold Yngwie above it.

and how can you say guys like Steve Vai don't have any soul? have you seen him in concert? he is an amazing performer and puts out 110% every time he hits the stage.

No, you aren't the only one with that opinion - but you're just like the others that do have the opinion. You can't see the fact that they are doing what they've always done - made music. It doesen't matter if you do not like their new material. Obviously, they aren't playing for you, then.

Metallica is a group of overrated, worn-out, money-grubbing rimjobbers, IMO. All their fricking 20-minute sweeping epic guitar wailing songs get on my nerves. And Lars is a jackass and has a speech impediment.

I heard on some guitar forums that Steve Vai holds the current speed record for the guitar right now. Although Eddie's finger tapping in the Eruption solo, as well as the end of the solo in No More Tears (is that Zakk or not?) are pretty friggin crazy.

WTF is wrong with me ? I should've known better than to bring up anything related to MetallicA on this forum. I should've known better. There will always be the Napster-loving greedy bastards who don't even know the whole story behind that ordeal. They'll go and say MetallicA are the greedy bastards... somehow... because they wanted to have the ability to choose how their own music was being distributed... something they rightfully owned (again, I ask where are the righteous bastards of this board?). The worst thing about these arguments (aka differences of opinion) is that there continue to be people who put them down with reasoning not even based on their music. What does a speech impediment (if you want to call it that) have to do with anything ?

And yes, I do play guitar, but I'm not stupid enough to think that I could EVER be as good as the big names out there, no matter how long and/or often I practice. I'm good at many other things but I don't claim to know everything there is to know about that subject and how things are real easy to do just because I can do it. I don't put others' talent down just because I can do it just as well.

Most of it is real, but a couple parts are really stupidly fake. What's up with that guys hair also? He looks the sheep dog in those cartoons where the hair is over his eyes, but he can still see anyway.......😕

It just goes to prove, just because you know how to play good it doesn't mean your music doesn't suck.

Awful guitar wanking. Yuck.

I see yer point but I'd assume that yer more likely to get writing credit than not if you gave a healthy contribution to a song. Load and Reload seemed to have a more "open" feel w/James and Lars letting Jason and Kirk have a bit more creative say in what's going on, but Lars' drumming is different, and James vocals and playing are different too from "the old days" so pinning "the demise of metallica" on Kirk is bunk.

I'm well aware that you aren't the only one w/this opinion, but at least your distate for "new 'tallica" is because of the music and not because of their hair, clothes, or some other equally stupid and superfical reason.

And just for the newbie (Statistic):

Somebody played it, just not that guy. That slapjob isn't even a good edit.

OK, that film has been sped up in that part. You can tell by his head, cause it bobs to fast, and hair doesn't move right for that speed. I spent 1.5 years in film editing and processing.
I too believe it was sped up...

well just got home and watched the video. he was techincally sound, but it didn't look like he was giving any feeling to the music at all. if you watch vai or satriani in concert you see them really put in their all with their guitar.

and to silverpig, Zakk Wylde worked on No More Tears with Ozzy. that is a great album 🙂
