In many game shows you have the choice (a) take the item, or (b) take the cash value of the item. Note the cash value is not the manufacturer's suggested retail price. If you don't have money to pay the tax, take the cash and pay tax out of it. Or sell the item, and use part of the proceeds to pay the tax. Either way, you are better off.Originally posted by: Vegito
so what happens when you can't afford the tax ? u give it back ? or do you get some other prize ?
Ha!
Q: I have been watching The Price is Right for a long time, and I have been wondering: Even if it has never happened before, what happens if the difference between the guessed price and the actual value of a showcase is the exact same for each contestant? Who wins?
A: If each contestant is exactly the same amount away from his/her showcase, each contestant wins his/her own showcase. If both were $250 or less away and the exact same amount away from his/her showcase, each contestant would win both showcases. Neither case has ever happened.
Q: I have always wondered what a contestant would do if he/she won a prize they didn't really want. Could money be substituted for its value, or is the contestant obligated to accept the prize?
A: 1. Contestants on THE PRICE IS RIGHT are not obligated to accept unwanted prizes. If they wish, they may forfeit any or all of their winnings.
2. CBS does not offer cash in lieu of prizes.
