Guy on eBay is trying to hassle me

His user id is govt-supply. I bought something from him about 2 months ago. He charges $20 flat shipping on all of his items. I'm fine with that, except it took him TWO weeks to get it here. I leave him a positive review anyways, but in the comments, I put, Overpriced shipping and it took two weeks for package to arrive - otherwise good seller. He gives me a retalitory comment, claiming that I made a slow payment. I actually don't care that much, since I won the item at a REALLY low price($50 for something that usually goes for $150).

Anyways, I found another one of his auctions with this kind of deal. I bought something else from him. I pay with money order, since he doesn't accept paypal. And 2 weeks later, I still don't get my package, and he sends me an alert that he hasn't received my payment yet. I'm starting to think that he's doing this purposely because of the comment I left for him. I went to USPS to file a lost money order, which costed me $3, and loads of paperwork and waiting in line. A week after I claimed I paid, the package arrives. It seems obvious that he purposely filled that non-paying bidder just to hassle me and give himself legitamate excuse just to make me wait 3 weeks to get my package.

If I give him a negative, he will give me a retalitory negative FOR SURE. It's in his track record. What could I do to get him back for this?

Yeah it wasn't too smart of me to buy from him again, but this time I really learned my lesson.

You're a funny guy.

You might try waiting until the 90th day, but I heard it's not exactly 90 days but something like 90 days. Does he have a lot of poor reviews already? Do you have a lot of positive feedback to offset his negative? If so, go for it. Otherwise, let it go...

Good luck.

Unless they've changed it, you have 89 days. I've tried to do this before, but I missed out... The option to leave feedback was gone on the 90th day. I thought I would have until midnight Pacific time on the 90th day, but apparently not.

Let's think this through. You already know if you say anything that's not nice, you'll get a nasty comment back.

I think your best plan is to forget it altogether. You have the item, don't leave any feedback at all. He probably won't leave you any either. Happy ending. And the bonus is that you won't waste time trying to come up with a scheme to "get him back".

who really cares if you have one negative? i thought it sucked at first, but i moved on. you shouldn't let it bother you. it's the cost of doing business. not everyone is a happy camper.

Best thing to do is move on. I also doubt that your payment being received late has anything to do with the situation. Slow mailings are commonplace amongst USPS. More likely he has no idea who you even were. You would've been added to his blocked bidder list if he had something against having you bid again.

I understand this mentality, and indeed I've practiced it before on ebay. But its precisely why ebay feedback is useless.

Can't argue that. The only way I know that buyers don't have to worry about jerk sellers like the guy the OP mentioned is to have two ebay IDs - one for buying and one for selling. Nasty comments on a buyer's feedback don't matter as much.

I don't know. Based on your description, you expected too much in the amount of time you got the item. Let see, he didn't accept paypal and you paid him with MO (I assume both auctions used the same method of payment/shipping). You have to buy an MO and mail to him. It could take 3-5 days depending how the stars are align. Then he had to cash it. It could be that day, but more than likely, it would be the next day. If it is all good, then he shipped your package. So 2 weeks to get your item when you pay with MO is reasonable.

Agreed, but when I said 2 weeks, I meant 2 weeks after I expected him to have the MO in his hands, not 2 weeks after the auction closed.
If the package takes 1 week to get here, he basically shipped it out a whole week after he had the money in his hands.
That's a bit absurd IMO considering how much he overcharged for shipping.

That is because Ebay's feed back sucks. The seller shouldn't get to leave a postive/negitive comment only the number of day since the auction ended and payment received.

Costed is not a word.

But your best bet is to do the wait until 89th day, 11:59pm or whatever and leave a huge nasty negative.

The only downside is that you might forget after 3 months or you just not care anymore.

If he is selller, it is ebay standard that he leave feedback first, kindly send him an email asking for feedback to be left in accordance with ebay standards.

The seller should technically be leaving feedback after they recieve payment.

that standard needs to be flushed down the shi##er

The transaction is not complete until the buyer recieves the product and is satisfied. After that happens, then the buyer should leave feedback to show that the transaction is complete

No, that standard needs to stay. Since the OP was the buyer, and made prompt payment, the seller should leave feedback right away since the buyers end of the deal is finished. This whole notion of the buyer leaving the feedback first once he gets his product is a load of crap and needs to be done away with.

It's unfortunate that you didn't use return receipt or some form of tracking on the payment...
That way, you could prove when he received the payment,
AND
Feel free to give him negative feedback.
If he left retaliatory negative feedback, if any of it was false ("took too long to pay"), then threaten to sue him for libel.
