Ruderman induced at least 22 victim-investors to give him approximately $44.3 million that was never invested, one lawsuit said. Ruderman, a Beverly Hills resident, used the money, in part, to cover his gambling losses, it said.

bankruptcy trustee claims actor Tobey Maguire (Spiderman) won $311k and sued him and others get $ back back.

Tobey Maguire settled out of court and paid $80k. 😱

WTF?!?!?!

The games were also unlicensed and illegal, so "the player had no legally enforceable contractual right to receive payment," the suits said.
There you go.

Kinda silly but think of it as he illegally laundered money and they were getting some of it back doing this.

what a fucked up situation. though coby won $300k and agreed to pay back $80. seems acceptable to me.

I do a lot of bankruptcy litigation. Trustees will sue over anything and often settle cases quick as most are not worth fighting.

WTF indeed? I guess $80k means nothing to Maguire. Is there any reason (other than it would have cost more than $80k to fight) to not pursue this in court? Too much time? Counter sue for something?

This is bullshit.
