So I was driving home today and stopped at one of the many red lights. At this one, there's a nice new SAAB in front of me. A white one at that. Example, Flash 360degSo Mr. SAAB decides he doesn't want to be in the middle lane anymore and that he'll just move over to the left because there's a tiny gab in the left lane he can push his way into.

Well, Mr 1980ish Dodge Cargo 10' tall van doesn't see Mr. SAAB and decides to close that gap some.

I really thought he did it on purpose, to block the lane, but, he actually hit's the SAAB on the Front Left fender. Just a glancing blow, but from my vantage point I see bumper snap. As the VAN was edging forward the SAAB Driver turned his well to try and straighten out and apparently didn't notice that they actually made contact.

I waited for the fireworks to begin, and was planning to defend the VAN Driver if they pulled off the road. The SAAB driver was clearly in the wrong. In my opinion he very well could have been in the Van's Blind Spot. But, nobody got out and the Guy in the SAAB just waited there patiently. The light changes and the van goes and the car that was behind the van lets the SAAB get in front of him. Meanwhile I goose it a bit to see if I can see the damage, and as I pass him the whole front bumper is hanging down by a thread from the passenger side. It was really a sight to behold, especially since the SAAB guy didn't notice he had any damage. I shoulda followed him home just to take a pic, but, I was running late as it was. The VAN guy was taking it slow and endedup turning off at a different street but as I passed him I didn't see ANY damage at all to his van.

Cliffs Notes:

Guy in SAAB tries to cut over into Left lane at a stop light, w/o asking for permission from anyone or signaling of any type.
Guy in van glances him ( and knocks off the front bumper of the SAAB) while doing no damage to himself.
Both drive off oblivious to the fact that they were in an accident.
SAAB Driver will get home and be really pissed off and have nobody to blame but himself.
I got to see it all and you didn't.
You really don't care but you'll post something anyway.

Happy Friday.

Something like this happened to me today too. There is construction on my street (one of the busiest streets in the city.) I am sitting at the part where all the traffic merges to one lane. I merged over about a half mile back like most of the people were, and it had taken me about 20 minutes to go that half mile. Well this bimmer come flying up and tries to just stick his front end in and cut in front of me. I drive a pos, so I dont care. I start to edge forward. He looks at me all mad and tries it again. I just keep on coasting forward. He tried one final time and I steered in his direction. He finally got the hint and got back in his own lane. No one behind me let him in either. We all had to wait, that bastard can too.

It's horrifying to me that people are so oblivious to the world around them that they could even gently tap a car, let alone cause real damage, and not realize it.

I did behold a person parallel parking some years ago and they were bumping cars gently while doing it. Morons!

Once I was in heavy traffic on the freeway, averaging about 3 miles an hour, and I slowly rolled up into a truck in front of me and hit him at about 1/2 a mile an hour. Both me and the driver noticed that we hit, we pulled over, looked at the cars. I rubbed a tiny scuff mark off his truck with my hand, He said "don't worry about it, there's no damage". and my car had the tiniest scuff mark on it too.

The ponit is, we barely tapped enough to brush the dirt off each other's cars, and we noticed the impact. I can't imagine losing a bumper and not feeling it.

I don't know how he didn't feel it, he saw it happen too. Maybe he thought he just stepped on the brakes too hard, or the bumper is designed to tear away if it's hit from that angle, I dunno. The VAN, I really think he just glanced it and it was a big fan and chrome/steel bumper. Still it boggles my mind, but, I still smile thinking about the SAAB guy getting home and looking at his bumper...

last week i was in line at the mocha shop (I drive an '83 ltd crown vic beater) this clown comes out of nowhere (driving a nice 2 seater similar to the rx7 but much newer) and cuts me off to get to the drive up window. In his haste to be first he overshoots and throws it in reverse.I was pulling up at that point but when his reverse lights came on I quickly put it in park. He never looked into his mirror and feels the bump as he hits my car.the look on his face was great,he jumped out did a nervous shuffle, then quickly walked to the front of my car.Seeing there was no damage to mine he starts stammering that there isn't any damage to mine and all is well.During this whole time I stayed in the car.the bump was small lol.As he starts back to his car I asked him how he missed me twice? He stopped as said "what do you mean twice?".I told him he cut me off before he backed into me.He looked like a ghost and kept looking at the brunette in his car.He finally said "I cut you off? I'm sorry, then you are supposed to be next."

He gets in his car and turns to go around the stand.I thought he was going to the other side ...but he left the area completely.

in san francisco this is the normal way to parallel park, pretty much out of necessity, because sometimes people have to squeeze into tiny spaces. this is why no one who can't afford off-street parking drives a nice car. i was pretty shocked the first time i saw it (grew up in the suburbs), but i quickly realized it's just an accepted practice.

gotta agree about it being scary that people are so tuned out while the drive. or maybe the saab guy knew what he did and was just waiting to see if the van driver was gonna do anything about it.

Good for you. Thing that pisses me off just as much as these inconsiderate maggots, is the people who let them in. Idiots! :|

Ah yes, life in the big city. Gotta love it!
