Guy hits cliff ledge after jumping with a parachute

Talk about some poor luck. Manages to hit the one piece of rock jutting out of the cliff.

Outside of everything in that video...why not do a running start vs. just jumping? To to novice like myself that is the first mistake.

Second mistake. First mistake would be: jumping off a freaking cliff with a parachute.

1. Jumping off a perfectly good cliff - as someone said before.
2. Not running.
3. Not going to rears.

Lucky he didn't die, but judging by his skills, he'll be dead soon if he doesn't retire the hobby.

what are rears? and why did the chute deploy and spin him around 180? was it packed a little off?
