He's just a regular guy, a shoe repairman.
Anyways, I'm working in my store when I see this ambulance outside. I go out to investigate and there's also a Fire truck in front of it. This is in the upper east side of Manhattan and some gawkers gather. I see an EMT and a fireman enter the shoe repair store and I immediately notice that the guy is wearing an oxygen mask- he's just totally pale and winded.
They wheel him out on a gurney and he has noticeable trouble just getting air.
He's put inside the ambulance and it takes a while before they leave. They consult another worker in the store whether or not he should come, but he stays behind.

I'm just hoping for a quick recovery. I dunno much about his personal life or family but he's a truly nice guy, humble, and he closes the store after work. Sometimes I see him spraying some shoes outside the store, near the curb.
His store is a polyglot of all races- black workers, thai, caucasian, middle eastern, all working together, paying their share just trying to get by. They also shine shoes and the middle eastern guy sells and repairs watches.

There are so many truly rich and priveleged people in that area. It'd be a damn shame if this hardworking, working class guy had some emergency that he could ill afford.

I'm praying for him tonight.
