Who cares how smart it is? Ubisoft already saved me the trouble of worrying by having policies that forced me to never buy any of their games.

^ that. Not going to bother with any of their PC titles, and their draconian DRM practices has made me make sure I'll never support one of their console titles either.

I'm pretty sure that this happens with other drm as well, even Windows

I've had Windows 7 do it once with a CPU overclock, though I'll chalk that up to a bug in the pre-SP1 version. It hasn't done it since, and I've completely overhauled the system, minus the mobo since.

I remember there being similar issues with Far Cry 2, as it was a popular benchmark platform at the time. I think it was either CNET or Tom's that posted a lengthy article complaining about the activation limit DRM being thrust on professional reviewers. Ubisoft eventually backed off.

I've always gotten the feeling that activation limit DRM is more a ploy to create artificial sales of a product. Especially from the modding community. Upgraded your computer too much? Having trouble installing? That will be $59.99 please. EA got into a lot of trouble with it over Spore, and thus eliminated it all together. Lesson learned: don't piss off the casual gamers.

Say what you will about Steam, but it makes game purchases very easy. If I see "3rd Party DRM" listed in that right hand column, I know what's not getting my money.

Ubi deserves their fate. They clearly don't even know how to use a computer (must code all of their crappy games on notebook paper first then have some intern move it into a compiler, etc.). I will NEVER buy a PC game of theirs, and I will do my best to stay from their console crap too. It made me giddy to see Rayman Origins price drop to $30 already. That means it's not selling worth a damn, which Ubi completely deserves.

Die, Ubisoft.
