I bought an EVGA 780 ACX SC. sort of regretting it now though as only a few games at 1080 really need that much gpu power plus I already played Crysis 3.

It is looking like the 780TI is just shuffling up the price/performance ladder from the 290X. Kind of misses the point. Nvidia needs to better compete at lower price levels instead of putting out another flagship. I would think most high end buyers are getting flagship fatigue and will just wait for 20nm instead of eking out 5-10% gains over Titan.

It will be interesting to see how the 290 does. I think nvidia still needs to work on 760 pricing.

I think nvidia is price performance competitive pretty well up and down the latter right now.

I disagree, the 770 2GB is a joke at the end of 2013. The 4GB is $380 and offers basically nothing over the 280x @ $300.

The 290 is coming, it will probably make the 780's value overpriced too. It's closer to what it should be, but I'm not sure it's cheap enough. Compared to the reference 290x it's not far off, however the aftermarket 290x's will probably make it less appealing.

Then the titan is absurd (yeah, yeah DP or something :p).

The 760 might be a touch overpriced too but I'm not sure since the 7950/70 sales might be dying out and I haven't followed the 270x or whatever that price range cards are.

Far Cry 3? Tomb Raider? Metro Last Light? Rome 2? BF4? Batman Origins? Plus you have a fancy 120hz monitor, don't you? You'll easily take advantage of that.

Since I know you to be sensitive to fan noise (like myself) I will be curious to hear your personal input on the fan noise of that particular card.

Dude, I've seen you buy cards and regret it multiple times only to return the card. Just install the damn thing and enjoy it, it's a really nice card.

Far Cry is fine on max settings with a 660ti unless you want the AA cranked and try to maintain 60 fps. I never dip below 60fps vsynced in Tomb Raider and thats only with a couple settings reduced. Batman Origins will play at way way over 60 fps with every setting fully maxed. dont have Metro LL just yet and have no interest in Rome 2. BF 4 I will probably get next year when its 10 bucks or less.

and no I returned that ASUS 144hz monitor because I hated it for daily use.

what? only 2 cards returned in almost 4 years. I returned a 470 over 3 years ago because it was insanely loud and then got a 570 a little while later which I kept for over a year. I returned a 670 because this is when they had driver issues with vsync at launch. I had to buy a gtx560 to use since I had sold my 570 but I kept the 560 for a while until I got a good deal on the 660ti that I have had for a year now.

780 ti benchmarks:http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/showthread.php?t=193722

Positioned way above Titan/290x. Looks double the performance gap between Titan & 780, securing the top spot wayyyy above titan. Nipping at the heels of 690/7990

Interestingly, the 290X provides equal or better performance at 4k resolution. I wonder if this is due to memory limitations and whether the 6 or 12 GB versions would perform substantially better at this resolution or whether the card is crippled by memory bandwidth.

Yawn, wait till next gen to compare 4k performance. :D

Holy crap its fast. RIP 290X.

NOW we are talking Titan slayer. Something tells me that this GPU do GPU boost pretty well compared to Titan.
Probably the B-stepping that 780 Ti is said to use which turns out to be really good.

Eh no. Try to look at those graphs again.

GTX 780 Ti beats 290X by a good margin in Bioshock Infinte 4K.

They are equal in Battlefield 3 4K.

Well then....
I'm on a 1440p monitor and I have to reduce a crapload of settings to get Far Cry 3 to run well on my 670. I've read anecdotal reports that Batman with maxed settings at 1440p will consistently be under 60fps on a gtx670 as well.

Took only 3 years (GTX 580 was released Nov 8, 2010) for a true successor of the GF110 to appear and it is still at a 40% premium... This is what I call progress! This release is setting the stage for the gouging come with Maxwell.

Yah but you wouldn't be using once card for that..
Yes, because one can't gauge SLI performance based on single card performance...

Congrats! I was looking at that model too, looks to run about 15c cooler than the reference and as quiet or quieter while gaming. I might snag a used one when people upgrade to the Ti. Or is the 290 comes in @ $400..

40% premium for 200% the performance.
I don`t think GTX 580 owners that plan to upgrade feel left out to be honest. More like jumping in joy to finally leave the old Fermi behind and max out Kepler with GTX 780 Ti ^_^
