I'd like to see a guns or firearms section. We have lots of people here who own and enjoy guns.

How about a Cooking, Gardening, Fishing, and Yoga forum as well? Seriously, this is a computer-oriented website and there are plenty of forums dedicated to firearms. However you could always post in the Off Topic forum if you're desperate. Mossburg or Benelli? :)

are we going to higher him with a crane?
;)

edit:
To stay on topic, I agree with many of the previous posters in that Anandtech is a tech forum. Anything else is reasonably off-topic. Besides, I think the gun posts are one of the many defining characteristics of OT at this point.

Not enough gun threads to warrant it, plus if everything is split off from OT, why bother with OT?

OT's the place. The forum you suggested is kind of inappropriate.

inappropriate? how?

Inappropriate to a technology website. But then so is Love and Relationships. We should have a Vacation Homes forum, since that's something else most of us don't have ;).

As with the Finance forum request, I think the real reason to have a separate Firearms forum would be because most posts in Off Topic aren't really serious and don't deal with serious issues. Having a "serious" area to post about "serious" things such as Finance and Firearms will give posters better, more targeted responses.

Sure this is primarily a technology forum, but these kinds of topics crop up frequently enough IMO.

If anandtech gets a gun section, then I will demand a flashlight and pocket protectors forum.

It is funny how many people constantly trumpet that this is a computer forum, but I would venture to guess that most people's posts are in the OT forum. If they were really so concerned with keeping this a tech forum, they would post more to the tech-related categories. There is irony here, in that most of my recent posts have been in OT as well, however, the first 4 or 5 years here I avoided OT entirely, holding to the belief that it is a tech forum. Truth be told, it was a tech forum, now it is more of a general forum with an extensive tech section. As far as traffic goes anyways, not saying there aren't plenty of knowledgeable people here...

Slippery slope argument, eh? As with all forums, it is the powers that be who will decide whether to create a new forum or ignore the request. Suggestions are just that - suggestions. There's certainly more of an interest here for a Firearms forum than there is for a "flashlight and pocket protectors" forum.

That fits under "Too Much Information", otherwise known as "Love and Relationships" :p

Too many sub-forums are diluting the computer aspect of anandtech. Like I said there are other places on the web where they can be posted.
