"Gun"

MX2

Lifer
Havent seen much hype about this one. Wonder if it is going to be any good. Personally, I am looking forward to it simply because it seems to be attempting something new with the old west theme.

Releases tomorrow

I'm a total sucker for Old West games and I think its a genre that is totally underrepresented in gaming (both pc and console).

So from what I've read and seen of this game it looks like GTA + Old West + the attitude of Deadwood (HBO series)....sounds good to me!

I hope to see a demo soon.

The gaming mags have been watching this one pretty closely so I've been looking forward to it for a while 🙂.

Saw a half hour special about it on G4 when I accidentally tuned into that channel.

I liked what they were saying about the openness of it where you can just go herd cattle for a while. I didn't like the console feel and the "bullet time" though so I'll be passing.

That game looks like it cold be very good. I would like to play a Demo first, but it says "In stores Nov. 8th" (today), so I'm guessing that means there's no Demo.

There's bullet-time? I hate that every single game these days feels the need to put some version of that in it.... ugh.

Taken from Gamespot's review:

The shooting action is great, though it's not for the faint of heart. The makers of this game must be big fans of HBO's Deadwood or something, because the level of violence and general vulgarity in Gun greatly surpasses what you'd probably expect from a typical Western, even if you've seen some of the gorier ones. Gun pays tribute to the classic films in the genre, from the unbelievable rescue from the gallows in The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly to the unforgettable last battle (courtesy of a Gatling gun) in The Wild Bunch. However, Gun isn't just bloody; it's downright gnarly at times, like when you blast a big chunk out of an enemy's head with a clean shot from your rifle. Expect graphic violence, racism, and misogyny in heavy doses during the course of the game.

Gamespot gave it a 7.4/10

sounds like fun! 😉

hmm my type of game!

Well, I just got it. And I am disappointed. I got to the "protect the stagecoach" level and just stopped playing. It was stupid easy.

The only thing that would keep me playing it would be the storyline....until it gets stupid anyway.

The guns are decent. Unlimited Hollywood ammo (no reload for the six-gun). And when the enemies die, it's just so arcadic. It reminds me of the game from "Back to future" Quickdraw, I think. You know, the kids didn't like it because you had to use your hands.

The ingame movies and acting are great though. The facial expression, the voices. Was it Kris Kristoupherson (wow, I know I didn't spell that right) who was your "father" at the beginning??

rofl no kidding!

Yeah, seriously. They just keep cramming that into games lately. It was a nice novelty for a while but I find it annoying.
