I have a stainless steel Ruger 1022. I want to get a scope for it, but I don't know anything about scopes. Can anyone recommend a good scope? I want to keep it $100 or less.

I have a Leupold 3-9 on my 10-22, and an 6-24 rangefinder on my Tactical Model 110FP, .223. They make very high quality scopes, but I don't think they make any in the $100 price range. Check, though, maybe you can find one for that price if you shop around.

EDIT: In the lower price range, you might try Tasco. They're not bad.

I have a mice 'lil 10/22 too. Man, it is a fun one to just go to the range and burn up a few hundred rounds in an afternoon. The base and rings will run about $20 (to mount it to the gun) and I would look at a cheap 4x Bushnell or Tasco scope. Cabela's has these in stock :)

Hey Russ, I didn't know you were into tactical shooting :) I love it almost as I do fast computers and fast cars, not to mention the fast women ;)

I bought a bushnell 22lr varmit scope for my bolt action 22, but I don't know why it wouldn't work just fine on a 10/22.

I was just looking at the Bushnell page, and I saw model # 73-3940S Trophy Scope. Does anybody know if this is a decent scope? Also does the silver finish look good with the stainless finish on a 10/22?

Brian,
Given your budget, I'd recommend either a Tasco or Bushnell. I have Bushnells on my 22 LR and 22 Mag. For the intended purpose, they work fine. For decent prices, you might look at Natchez Shooters Supplies here. They usually run some decent sales on scopes among other things. As far as the color issue, the best way to decide that is go to a gun shop that has both your gun and the prospective scope in stock and ask to see how they do match. If it's not to your liking, I would suggest a Matte Black model. They go surprisingly well with stainless.

I have a Simmons 4x32 scope on my blued 10/22. I picked it up at Dick's for like $30. It does the job nicely. It's a larger diameter than the old scope I had on there, which is one of the reasons I got it. I've been happy with it.
