Gun People: question for you.

You need a Class 3 Federal Firearms License (FFL).

Oh, and a Thompson like that, remanufactured or new look a like is a minimum of $5000.

I've shot one of those (they are sweet) that my dealer had before moving away 🙁
After you get over the cost (he paid about $5500 for his), there's an ATF tax stamp ($200), a background check that takes about 6 months, and IIRC you need a clearance letter from your county sheriff or someone in the DA's office. Depending on the state, you can bypass the sheriff bit if you form a LLC and transfer ownership to the corporation as long as you're an officer on the "board".
Edit: You don't need a class 3 license UNLESS you plan on selling class 3 weapons.
