If it's right against the skin, there shouldn't be much of a flash... Of course, I haven't been in a situation like that, so I wouldn't know for sure.

If you want to "improve the realism" let's talk "reaction of the victim." He shouldn't slump back forwards - he's supposed to be dead. When the gun is "fired" just have him jerk his head back, then go limp.

Is this supposed to be an execution or something? If so, turn him around and do a "back of the head" - easier to have him slam facefirst into an out-of-angle pillow, and it's easier to do makeup magic for the entrance wound when there's hair in the way.

LOL...nice slate

mainly what kills it is the actor...i know its just a daily we are watching, but he is obviously anticipating the "shot" way too much. The "brains" appear (to me) to be flying up from the bottom too much (which i assume is the source). What did you use to do that anyways?

Also the gunshot sound effect sucks and sounds cheap, sorry D:

I mainly wanted to post just to say PowerMac4Ever has the best sig...evar, although I might have to challenge your claim to "#1 Hater" at least on this forum. I know I have a postcount disadvantage, but I believe I hate just as much, if not more.

Not particularly. If you have something to say, just come out and say it. Stop pussyfooting around.

Correct. Even IF the bullet did not penetrate through the skull, the kinetic energy of the bullet wouldn't make the head fly backward so much, if at all.

I could do the math (m1*v1 = m2 *v2 assuming 100% energy transfer, which is impossible unless the bullet lodges inside the head), but I'm just too lazy.

Used to be both, but Apple bought the company, so now it is just Mac and Linux. Other than the custom compositing apps that some sfx houses develop for internal use, Shake is the best, hands down.

You might want to add a bullet hole to the guys forehead after the bullet passes through it..
Also I can see you bag of brain matter right before it starts to spray good. Also I see the brain matter pour out before spraying out. I think it should spray along the bullet path first. Pour out while the guy is going towards the shooter and falling.

The flash should sing hair and have smoke.

Edit: After actually reading some more of the thread.. M4H has a good point about execution style and back of the head magic. Also I agree the victim would not go back then forward.
