Gun Experts-Need Help on Gun Choice

9mm or 40
380 will please her ,but not you
45 will please you , but not her
For plinking 22.s are tons of cheap fun, not really a self dense weapon though

I plan on buying a pistol. What caliber would be a good choice that me and my fiancee can both use?

Caliber is only part of the problem, a pistol that is comfortable for one person's hands is not necessarily comfortable for those of another. A pistol that feels comfortable in your grip might when you're just holding it might not be so comfortable during recoil, though. I recommend finding a rental range and trying out a variety of pistols in different calibers with your fiancee. If you have no previous experience with firearms, I would recommend taking a training class as well.

Grew up with 22's, shotguns, various rifles. Never personally owned a pistol but have shot my buddies .40, 9mm, 357 etc

Most police officers have switched to 40, because it has more kicking power...

Home use, best is a shotgun.. Most burglers will flee after hearing the noise of a loading shotgun.

To carry, 22 caliber for her and 9mm for you..

Just remember to get a revolver instead of a semi-automatic.. Most women has problems with loading semi-automatic pistols..

I wouldn't recommend a .22 caliber pistol. They are too inaccurate and don't have enough power. (Unless you are talking about something like a High Standard Match Target pistol)

9mm or .38. Glocks are well known for their "good feel" and ambidextrious grip (left or right handed). I personally have a Walther PPK .38, stainless and it feels perfect.

Your best bet is to go to a gun store and try them all out. Most gun shops that have shooting ranges in them, will let you try out the used handguns. You can get really good deals on police officer trade ins.

Are you looking at a revolver or a semi-auto? Is this for personal protection, target shooting or just for plinking around with?

I take my daughter shooting and she is able to handle a Beretta 9mm quite well. I also have a 357 magnum but I load 38 specials in it when she is shooting. The 357 mag. loads are just a bit much for her. If you're looking for a wheel gun the Ruger KGP-160 is a nice gun. The 6" barrel absorbs the recoil well and the gun itself is not expensive and will take a beating. Nice quality for the price. The Smith & Wesoon model 686P is a nice gun as well.

As far as semi-autos go there are a lot of good quality manufacturers out there. Two of my favorite are Beretta and Kimber. Both make a nice assortment of styles in a variety of calibers.

It will be for personal protection/plinking.

I want something easy to load, clean and use that doesnt have alot of recoil.

She is 5'4' 100lbs
