Gun book: I need one.

Aside from knowing that "guns don't kill people, people kill people" I know nothing about guns. Accordingly, I need a good noob book so I can feel confident walking around with an AR-15 over my shoulder.

Serious replies only or I'll shoot you (once I learn how to).

You don't need a book for that. Any gun you buy will come with a manual in which you will find everything you need to know about that particular firearm.

Follow these three simple rules and you'll never have an accident involving a firearm (not one that is your fault anyway):

-NEVER point a firearm at anything or anyone you don't intend to shoot.
-Always treat EVERY firearm as if it is loaded.
-Keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to fire the weapon.

This sounds like a troll thread. I'm not even sure what the OP is asking for.

Just take a class.

Most ranges/gun clubs have classes at some time or another.

Just Google search in your area for a gun club or range or call them up and ask.

This will be many times more useful than a book IMO.

People need a book for basic gun safety? WTH?

until you shoot something, i don't think people actually respect that they are actually propelling a small cone shaped lead/copper/steel projectile at nearly 3000fps, give or take in regards to an ar15.

also, since the op is a noob, i would rather him/her read a book/take a course and actually learn correct safety before he/she kills themselves or somebody else because they don't know.

and, most gun manuals that come w/ firearms are a bit on the weak side imho.

I don't have an AR-15 and I don't plan on getting one. I'm not looking for a book on gun safety. Only idiots need gun safety books or courses.

I want a book that gives an overview of gun technology, like firing mechanisms, calibers and their uses, combat vs non-combat weapons, maybe some gun history etc.

You want a coffee table gun book. Go to Borders.
