While brushing my teeth, I felt something weird in my mouth. The back piece of my gums where my wisdom teeth is growing, ripped when I was brushing..... So, it's basically flapping...

should I a) rip it? b) leave it alone c) rinse with salt water d) emergency

i called the emergency line and asked for my department's on call person. From what I understand from the half-awake dude, is that I shouldn't rip it myself as I could also rip a blood vessel.

Going to sleep on it.

Tread closed.

it's normal. i'm glad you didn't rip it off. :Q that tissue will recede on its own as your wisdom tooth erupts fully. but if your wisdom tooth doesn't come in all the way b/c it's impacted that tissue may remain and become a place for infection to begin. it's a good place for food/plaque to get caught and periocornitis to occur. you will know if it gets infected - hurts like hell, and a dentist will prescribe antibiotics to help rid you of it.

Gums heal pretty fast.

I'd just keep it clean and use some Anbesol oral analgesic for any pain and let it heal itself.
