Some guys from around here had gone up to NYC right after Sept 11 to bring good hot food to rescue workers (Story here). They underestimated how much the workers would appreciate their gumbo, and ran out quickly.
Now, they're going back with reinforcements, sponsored by the Orleans Parish Sheriff, and several well-off families.
This time they're planning to serve:
3000 bowls of gumbo
2000 bowls of jambalaya
4200 cups of coffee
2000 slices of King Cake
