My friends did it last year in one of thier M3's. From like Cali somewhere to Miami. They said it ws nuts. Peaople dress up and stull.

theyre some one else i think............theres this guy on the dvd called ehab or something he has a 360 spider and a lambo.....he got 3 girls with him...one with no top on apart from some blue flower paint over her nips! and then he has these 2 blondes driving his ferrari

Dreamng is fine, but if you engineer like you write then you will be driving a used Yugo the rest of your life so I would suggest you get very comfortable with it being merely a dream.

but its ok to dream right?...........will be studying automotive engineering come october, so maybe with a few years a whole lot of luck and if its still running it jus might happen......

what u guys on about buyin a car?.......people were in a rented mercedes an stuff sometimes, ryan dunn and demitri used a rented cadillac whether for comedeic value i dont no....u dont actually have to own it tho it would be nice, and i spotted in this years rally.....a golf mark 4, a modded mark 4 ford escort (european version), and the 500hp repsol escort cossie replica which got trashed

2002 rally, 4 ladies in a mini cooper s.....thats a car that my dad would buy if my mum would let him, 16,000 aint bad for 170 odd bhp

so yeah u need more money than u can count to enter, but its only 5000 its 10k based on 2ppl so 2 ppl = 5k each, u need money for speeding fines, but then again u are not meant to speed, u need money for fuel....lots if u drive a hummer or viper 🙂

I personally wouldn't enter with some off-the-line car, just because you come off as a wanna be. My a4 wouldn't quite cut it for something like that, not to mention I'd prefer a car that can hit 150....

Unless you own a fast exotic car, it really makes no sense to enter. You can't drive fast in a mini cooper and you definitely don't fit in if the other people if they spend more on tickets that what you spent on your car.

how many topless chicks you think you're gonna get in your mini cooper?

On the video they were making fun of these kids driving a riced-out probe

u cant drive fast in a mini cooper? ok then

thats just your preference, ok goin fast is cool, but not essential, and is actually not whats wanted. u wont fit in with a mini cooper? so the guy in the fiat 500 and the 2CV they dont fit obviously and the guy with the dogs dinner ford escort great!

but i can see what ur sayin, turning up in a car that cost less than the next guys audio system would kinda make u feel like a loser

stop posting on anandtech if you really want to do it. those people were either born rich or they worked real hard to earn that money. they sure as hell didn't dream or pursue something like that when they were 18. get back to reality.

if you didn't get my point, stop dreaming cause you'll never be a part of gumball.

I was just messing with you and 2 of the cars I currently have are a fully restored 1957 T-Bird and a 1966 Shelby GT350H....so you got some catching up to do....and I get more cars all the time. 😉

I know someone who participated in the Gumball two years ago, and he's just a regular guy. He saved up/loaned some cash and he found someone on the internet who had a modded S4 who was participating so he joined him. They were three in that car. He didn't actually drive the car, but he still lived the whole event. That's the only way I can see you going there. But everything is super expensive, the hotels and all. You could also check for the Players Run or Memorial Run which are less expensive, but also less "notorious". I thought about trying to get in a team to participate myself, but I'm not sure my parents would agree financially. Plus, the language barrier would suck... every now and then I struggle when I speak english.

And the guy in the GT3 (it's a GT2 actually) is nicknamed Lonman, he's also English, and he can be found on m5board.com. He also owns a SL55 that he used to in the Gumball the year before. He bought a left-hand driving one only for the Gumball, and then he sold it to buy a new right-hand driving one for England. He also owns a Lambo (I think it's a Galllardo) and a BMW M5 😛

Edit: just to give you an idea what kind of money those guys have, this is a quote from Lonman talking about his run in last year's Memorial Run
The event was due to start on the 15th Feb, but on the 14th one of the pulleys under the hood decided to chew up it's bearings. No problem, shoot over to MB Beverly Hills and they'll put it right. Advised that there were no spare parts any where in the world for the SL55. Phoned a friend in the UK who has an SL55, he agreed to lend me his pulley, phoned another friend in the UK and he jumped on a plane to LAX with part. From diagnosis of problem to fitting replacement part took 15 hours!!
