My cur-dls came back from RMA and is now in production (dual p3-1000)!
I hope you have a spare warp-coil laying around.
Unless something breaks you have less than 72 hours to make 4,000 WU's.

BTW...this cur-dls goes up for sale after the 45 day race is over!

Asus boards have a 3 year program. All I had to pay for was shipping one-way.
You need to get with tech support, prove the card is bad, then you get an RMA.
This is a set it and forget it type of machine. No tweaking allowed.

I been slowly selling them off to friends that want a server to be real server at home.

Seti times sort of suck, with W2Kpro and all extra services stopped, a 0.417 WU
averages around 9:30, thats good for 5-6 WU's a day...

An extra 5-6 WUs a day isn't nothing to all of us, that would boost my output by 50%... :)

Oh, I love the 5-6 extra a day, I just wish I could get better out of them. I had always heard that when you went dual processing you would only see a 4-5% drop in some apps, while you would see a significant increase in your ability to run a lot of things at once.

From the running a lot of things at once, they are absolutely great!

However, I have a single P3-1000 running on a cusl2-c and I get Seti times that average below 7 hours, 2 to 2.5 hours faster than I get on my dual cur-dls w/P3-1000's...

Yet, I have a dual Iwill dvd266-r w/DDR memory w/dual p3-700's that I am still trying to tweak and I am averaging 5 hrs on one cpu and 8.5 on the other.

My long term plans are to keep only 1 cur-dls as my permanent home server, and get several Epox 8KHA+ or maybe even a soyo dragon and see how far I can push them 7-8+ WU's a day.

Since I travel so much, I pick up parts all over the US, it beats sitting in a hotel room at night. You would be suprised at how many shops have boards they need to RMA, but they will sell for nearly nothing to save them the headache of doing the RMA and selling it for used once it comes back.

From an auction I have parts for 5 dual p2-300's, only 1 of which I have had time to build. I plan to dedicate one to a UT server, another for Quake.

After Christmas, I am going to be putting a lot of stuff up for sale. I'm on the road too much, but I can't break the habit of shopping for deals.

As an example, for my best deal I had one cur-dls I picked up for $100, had to RMA it, with $12 shipping, $112 my cost for a $600+ board.

Wow, that's a good deal... And you know, if you're building a new home server, why stop at an 8K7A and 1 Athlon XP, why not go dual? Sure, it's overkill, but hey, you can get like 14 WUs from 1 dual Athlon XP system :)

I already have my primary dual server up and running, plus the Iwill dual and the other cur-dls I turned up yesterday.

Since I've never had an AMD, I thought I would try the 8KHA+ to start and wait for the 2nd generation of dual AMD boards, the rumor I heard is they should support some serious overclocking.

My wife found a rolling shelf unit at Sams to put my machines on and help organize my home office.
Its great, I have a row of sx-830's across the bottom (2 are empty waiting for me to build machines, I got in on the outpost.com $50/case deal last week). I put my laptop, tv and vcr on the second shelf, third is software, etc..

My only problem is sneaking in 1-2 hours to play with them when I'm home.

<slowly clenching and unclenching right fist> Congratulations to you, cakin, on a race well run! There is no way <slowly clenching and unclenching right fist> that I could ramp up production to the degree necessary to catch you in the time remaining. You've done well to increase <slowly clenching and unclenching right fist> your production to the extent necessary to hold me (and GWN) off! I simply do not have a big enough crew and therefore cannot force-feed <slowly clenching and unclenching right fist> my matter/anti-matter chambers to the degree necessary...dasm crew!

A slightly premature congratulations!! <slowly clenching and unclenching right fist>

:D

like a jolt from a nearly empty bottle of nitrous oxide...I put a little ground on you and the reserve tank is empty.

So my initial plan to hold you off til Christmas, just isn't going to happen.

I look forward to watching your dust in the new year! Unless Santa is really, really nice!
