Guitarists: What adjustments is Jimmy Page doing in this song?

Right after the intro he moves a switch I think then throughout the song keeps adjusting things.

My electric was very basic, it played nice though just didn't have many knobs and switches/pickups.

He's just switching between the rhythm, mid, and neck pickups. He switches around the nobs at the bottom of the guitar to control his tone/volume.

I know what he is doing...I am trying to find out exactly what and why.

I played a Martin HD28 mostly.
