Are you going to be able to reach it to change the battery though? If you have to unstring your guitar everytime you need a new 9V, that'll suck :)

Unstringing/restringing per 20-30 hours of playtime? That would get old .. fast.

The cavity is in the back of the guitar.

OK cool. Last tip (promise! :D ) Make sure the wiring is well insulated. With the extra voltage going through the pickups they'll tend to be noisy if the wiring isn't insulated. Most kits will come with insulated replacement wire, but you have to be careful about the soldier points as that's where you'll get the signal bleed (a lot of people use shrink caps on their points for this reason.).

I'll be interested to hear how it comes out! Be sure to post some clips.

I have primarily used Duncan pickups (SH2/TB4) in every guitar I have ever owned. However I purchased an ESP Viper with stock EMG 81/85 config and was blown away at the clarity they have.

This is actually a solder-less set. Everything clips together.....except for the selector switch.
