Guitar Question: What is the proper fingering for this song ?

Wow that is crazy. You could use your pinky to hit it on the third fret but other than that I can't figure it out.

You're obviously not classically trained...

That's okay cause neither am I 🙂

You probably make a D with your index, middle, and ring fingers right?

That's actually the wrong way to make the chord.

You are supposed to have your index finger on the second fret of the low E string, and then make the 2-3-2 part with your middle, ring, and pinky fingers. If you form the 2-3-2 part this way, your index finger is free to do the 3-2-1 part on the A string.

Of course, I find this to be waaaaay too awkward for me, and my muscle memory is set up so that I make a D chord with my index, middle, and ring fingers doing the 2-3-2 part, and I use my thumb on the low E string. I could probably get away with stretching it all the way over to the A string, but that'd be quite the stretch.

Another option is to forgo fingering the F# on the high E string. Just use your middle and ring fingers to push on the 2nd and 3rd frets of the G and B strings respectively, use your index finger to do the 3-2-1 part on the A, and just not play the high E string...
