Guitar players who watched the Grammys: two questions

WTF was the dude from White Stripes wearing on his finger? I've never seen someone wear something like that while playing so it made me curious. I'm a n00b so it might be fairly common; I've just never seen one before.

On a semi-related note it made me wonder if there was anything like that which would keep the side of your finger semi-rigid and flat while still allowing it to bend at the joints. Anyone seen anything like this?

<---- Fat knuckles = muted strings = I suck at barre chords

Best slide guitar players that I've seen personally were Ronny Montrose and Johnny Winter.

SRV was great, but I never saw him. :frown:

Bullsh!t.

I'm sorry, I'm probably in the minority but the White Stripes suck.

I find it terrible retarded now a adays with all these bands who play with only "feeling" and disregard song structure. Don't get me wrong, I'm all about "thinking outside the box" but that performance (ESPECIALLY the solo) sucked ass! It kept moving from key to key and sounded very dischordant. Honestly, the solo sounded like he started learning guitar yesterday. Which is sad because I KNOW he is a good guitar player, he just doesn't care.

Structure blah, who cares but other guitar players?

I was wondering how he was able to change tones so quick. I didn't see him it a pedal or anything.

Man... Robert Randolph played? im pissed cuz that guy ownz at the pedal steel. I saw him live with the Roots, and that was a sweet arsed show. I would have actually watched the grammys if I knew somebody even remotely decent was gonna play.

As for Jack White, who cares, he's a over-praised dick with a ego. I hope he gets jail time for his repeated assault and battery charges, and a big black dude puts a white stripe on his face. Just because you have money doesn't mean you can be a total dick and not follow the law without recourse.

That would have been a better use of people's energy last night than reposting that 50 Cent "incident". The White Stripes' performance was amazing IMO.

His solo had good parts and bad parts. For a lot of it he did the stupid "4 bar, 4 power chord punk progression" as I call it. BORING.

That was the slide. try it sometime. Just take a glass or something and slide it up or down the fret board. It can produce some interesting sounds.
