I have been playing an acoustic guitar for about 2 weeks, now. My fingers have gotten pretty beat up, and they are getting tougher...but I still end up getting that painful sensation after a couple hours of play. I typically play about 2 hours a day. How long till the pain goes away permanently ?

Sounds like the callouses are starting to develop. Keep working on it. It took me about a month before I was completely comfortable playing. It will hurt, but you have to work through it or you will always experience it.

I've been playing for over a year, play every day, and my fingers still hurt, but not for very long after playing. You've got to realize, two hours of playing is a lot for your fingers to handle - expect pain for a long time yet. I still get pain, but I don't think about it usually.

i used to play bass guitar in a jazz band, before shows i would always get big nasty blisters, i used to put some super glue of them and let it dry... good as new..

anyway, 2 years later and i would still have soar fingers after a concert.

2 hours is quite a long time to be playing. Your fingers are probably going to hurt for quite a while yet, after that amount. However, the more you play, the quicker you build up calluses and the less pain you feel.
