Guitar players -- amp question

I was looking at a Fender amp tonight that goes for about $220. It has built in reverb and distortion. Didn't get the model #. Does anyone know which one it might be and if so is it any good?

www.musicianfriend.com has this fender amp for $230. Looks pretty good, it certainly wouldn't be a bad amp.

I would go to store and compare it to a Crate like this one.. It's got a bigger speaker, which helps a lot when you need to crank it up, and it's $20 cheaper.

But you should go somewhere and hear them in action. You don't have to buy it from the same place you hear it, all the examples of a model will sound the same with these little solid state amps.

Marshall Amps sound much better than Fenders. That site has a few good deals on some 30 Watt Marshalls you should check out too.

I played it at the store (Mars Music before they went out of business) and it's a solid sounding amp. It sounds very good clean, I didn't mess with the overdrive too much.

I briefly had the Marshall MG30RCD, that sounded great with a nice distortion. It's only $150 at MF. You might also check out the Vox Cambridge 30, which I think has the best clean tone of the three. Before they were discontinued they were selling for around $175.

Yeah, I'd suggest the MG30RCD myself if you want to save a few bucks... However, if you want to bite the bullet a bit now and save yourself some cash later, go for the MG30DFX. It's more money, but it has built in reverb, delay, and a few other effects that are definitely awesome to have. It'll save you from buying separate pedals later.

The MG30DFX looks pretty sweet. If I can find it for $250 at a retail outlet I will consider it. Thanks for the advice.
