Played this at my friend's house last night. I don't own it and haven't seen the manual.

1. We couldn't get the GH3 guitar to work with the kit. Does it?

2. What is/how does "sliding" work? I see where it's done on the GHWT guitar, but I never take my fingers off the buttons when I am playing to experiment. Can someone explain?

1. i had no trouble with my GH3 guitar and dongle, worked pretty good.

2. Sliding isn't too bad, the notes come up darker and have a line connecting them.. Its just something new to throw in the mix and you can also play those notes with the regular buttons without strumming.

I have a question about the touch pad. When videos from E3 came out it showed the one guy on lead guitar running his finger up and down the strip on sustained notes and you could really hear an effect but i'm not hearing much effect when I do it? Is there a trick to it? I've got the PS3 version. I'm sure things have been adjusted since then but I hardly hear hardly any effect at all.

I can hear the difference when i use the touch pad, it gets louder if you use the whammy bar with it too.

As for my drumset, i really started to notice that my orange cymbal is very sensitive and my yellow is the opposite. So I just got an email back from activision, they asked for my info, place of purchase and serial number of the drumset. Hopefully the turnaround isn't too bad..especially if a lot of people need to do this. The only PITA is you have to run the calibration through your computer, they definitly should of included this in a 360 or ps3 update. Also, it only runs in windows for the time being.

Just beat it 100% on career mode. There has to be a lot of people playing this game, my rank went from 3100 to 8500 in 1 day or i just suck that bad

I just got my first e-mail from activision telling me to try al bunch of stuff and if that didn't work ask for the USB hook up thing. So I guess my next e-mail will be for them to get my info. You would think they could have a program that could run on the PS3 and 360 so we didn't have to go though all this trouble getting the adapter. Atleast they are free i guess.

Ok, I got the game yesterday. PLayed for 20 minutes or so. I hate it.

Question tho. I don;t plan to play drums, only bass and guitar, no band, just me. Can I only unlock all the songs if I play all the the seperate career modes? Or can I just play bass and guitar and unlock all the songs. I read somewhere where in order to unlock every song you need to basically play everything including singing in careers. True/false?

I have no intention of singing or playing the drums, so i would hope not

Some cheats for everyone. Don't think these have been mentioned here yet. I've used the "unlock quickplay" one. Pretty much just unlocks all the songs. It was really convenient because I took the game to my brothers house and I didn't have to bring my hard drive in order to be able to play all the songs there. Just remember that after you unlock the cheat you still have to scroll down to it and toggle it on to make it active.

#

go to the main menu, select "Options", "Cheats", "Enter New Cheat", then enter one of the following codes to unlock the corresponding cheat option:

Performance Mode
Press Yellow(2), Blue, Red, Blue, Green, Red(2).

Hyperspeed
Press Green, Blue, Red, Yellow(2), Red, Green(2).

Auto Kick
Press Yellow, Green, Red, Blue(4), Red.

Unlock Quickplay
Press Blue, Blue, Red, Green(2), Blue(2), Yellow.

Press Blue, Red, Yellow(5), Green.

Johnny Viper
Press Blue, Red, Blue(2), Yellow(3), Green.

Rina
Press Blue, Red, Green, Green, Yellow(3), Green.

Air Instruments
Press Red(2), Blue, Yellow, Green(3), Yellow.

Invisible Characters

I'm not sure on all of them but while playing with quickplay unlocked I got a few. So definitely not all of them.

I would hope that an actual cheat like auto kick would disable achievments :) With neversoft you never really know though until you try...

Well, according to some forums they fubared the sound quality again. When I played it last night I just played through 2.1 comp speakers. Tonight I will play thru my receiver and see if the forums are right.

Virtually Sold Out. Holiday availability will be low.

Activision has announced that the full band kit for Guitar Hero has been selling very well and the publisher does not expect it'll be able to completely satisfy demand.

On the conference call following Activision Blizzard's recent financial report, CEO Bobby Kotick said that Activision has "been surprised" by the response to the full band kit for Guitar Hero World Tour. Furthermore, Activision Publishing boss Mike Griffith said that the full band kit is "virtually sold out across the channel" and it's "not likely that we'll be able to keep up with demand [this holiday season]."

Overall, Griffith said that the entire Guitar Hero franchise has sold 24 million units to date, compared with 5 million units for MTV's Rock Band. Griffith also said that World Tour has been outselling the competition (meaning Rock Band 2) by a "very wide margin." He noted that there have been 25 million song downloads in Guitar Hero so far.

Activision Blizzard is planning on stepping up its release plans considerably going forward, with 70 SKUs planned for the next year, which includes "multiple Guitar Hero games."

wow...surprised^

im getting the usb>midi today according to fedex :)

::update::

Got it, basically you have to be in Music Studio mode AND connect it to a computer. I had to put my Yellow cymbal up to max sensitivity and my bass pedal went to 15 out of 20. Works pretty good now

I got this game with the guitar last weekend.

Don't ask why I needed a 4th plastic guitar. The guitar feels great but the strum bar has a loud squeek that sounds horrible.

Gameplay

Guitar - gameplay is good and fun. I like alot of the songs but it really sucks to have so many duplicates from Rock Band. Tool songs are boring to play. Easier than GH3 but still fun. They fixed the timings.

Drums. I dunno it is pretty weak on drums. Seems much easier than RB.

Bass - Bass is fun and some are really hard with the open note

vocals didn't try them...don't care.

Graphics = horrible...an abomination

GHtunes = sucks. the sound is horrible and good luck finding something fun to play.

If you mainly want to get this for the guitar then I recommend. It has some good bands that RB doesn't have and is fun.

If you want this for the full band, RB is a much better option

I got it from Costco and if the strum bar doesn't stop screeching in a few days I'm going to see if they'll take it back and give me my money instead of exchanging it.

Thats a pretty good review. I got the band kit as well on release day, I've used the drums 3 times I think, I suck at drums and I got them basically for when I have people over. I really like the new guitar, honestly its worth the money. If I had to do it all over again I would've just got the guitar kit.

I really like the guitar too but it squeaks so much. I guess it is a big problem. I'll probably just keep it and wait for someone to come up with a fix for it.

I picked it up for my Wii in anticipation of playing it with some friends over the weekend (using the GH3 guitars and RB Mic). Never ended up getting around to it but I did try out one or two songs single player. It took a bit of practice to get used to the guitars again since i haven't used them since I bought RB. It wasn't bad but I'm not terribly impressed so far. Graphics looked worse than GH3 maybe due to there being more stuff on screen.

hrm.. graphics worse than GH3 on the Wii? that's disappointing, mine is coming tomorrow. I went w/ GH:WT mostly to evaluate how they do online stuff, but didn't think it'd look worse.

I'd like to add that my testing was super subjective. I haven't played GH3 in a few months but the character models didn't look nearly as good as they did in GH3.

Well, just got done playing solo a couple of hours for the Wii version. When will nintendo get background downloading... sigh. otherwise, the SD storage works well for the songs. And for me, I don't see buying more than maybe a dozen songs.. IF that. DLC was never too high a priority. Just wanted to experience for myself how DLC got managed for the wii.. and finally get GH for myself to play. graphics were pretty much what you expect from the wii, could have been better I think though, but oh well.
