Just rented it. I only missed 2 notes on mountain song in hard(first time playing it). Hard is definitely easier than in GHIII so far.

I just picked it up and I'm not sure what to think of it yet. It definitely lacks that "polish" that rock band has. Also... a big WTF to having to play multiple songs in a row on each tier in one sitting with no breaks. The good thing so far is that I think they definitely toned down the difficulty. Expert Guitar on this seems to be easier on this than GH3.

Also, I have a PS3 and can confirm the RB1 drumset is indeed compatible (just shrinks to 4 buttons plus kick)

That was about what I was expecting.

I don't like how they didn't go in-depth about the quality of the instruments - particularly the drums. All they said was that it felt strange and the kick pedal wasn't secured so it moved and flipped over.

I want to know if the cymbals are prone to cracking in half - if the foot pedal is properly reinforced to keep it from snapping in half - etc.

Hopefully now we'll start to see how these things work with the RB games.

I'm picking up the Guitar+Game in an hour. I'll plug in the RB Drums when I get home and see how they work.

I hope they work well as I have the ION Drum Rocker kit on it's way. :D

I'm actually more interested in seeing how GH drums work with RB. I don't think I'm going to be getting GHWT, as the series has taken a big downturn since GHII.

I like having to play an entire "set", there is always the pause button if you need a break. Creating a setlist is cool as well. The guitar is different, I've been playing RB2 for the past week so i'm used to that guitar and I find my fingers on the wrong frets at times. I fired up GH: Aerosmith last night and beat few expert songs for the first time so I thought I'd have no problems with some of the easy songs on expert for World Tour but the guitar is just a bit different and is going to take some getting used to. The touch pad is interesting, i'm not sure if I like it yet or not because its hard to find the fret to start on when that section comes up, most of the time I just use the normal frets.

So far so good, I got the band kit but have only unpacked the guitar. I'll get to the drums later

I just got done playing for about 3 1/2 hours, me and my friends unlocked a lot of songs on hard doing bass, guitar, and singing. Im still iffy on the drumset, i think if i had to do it again i'd just get the guitar combo and used the singstar mics..if they work?..i'll check that out

Im surprised ign gave it a 7.9 xbox360 review, i'm about to read it now..will probably be the same copy and paste review for PS3.

Personally i like it a lot better than GH3.

Is there a no fail mode like on RB2? I haven't got around to looking into the options or cheats.

I was going to get it this morning but held off due to the mostly mediocre to bad user reviews around the net. If fanboys on scorehero are saying it kinda sucks then something must be wrong.

I will get it eventually, used probably just because of Metallica.

So I've done a bit of reading, and from what I gather, it looks like GHWT drums on RB2 work for 360 only now, and not PS3. Also, it's just a 1-1 mapping - it just doesn't use the orange cymbal. RB2 drums in GHWT get re-mapped to 4 pads. Also, activating star power with the RB drumset is a bit wonky, as it requires hitting the red and yellow pads at the same time.

There are quite a few problems people are reporting with the drums, and Activision has a lame return policy which has you pay return shipping costs (and no send-first option).

Seems there's an expected split between which game has the better mapping. Here is an awesome post with links to youtube comparisons of each. GHWT does the GH-standard 3-button chord overkill, and RB is a bit more simplistic (realistic?).

Here is a good review and discussion of the GHWT drumset.

So, looks like I'm skipping over GHWT altogether - both the game and the instruments.

The guitar is supposed to be nice, but I have 2, and really have no problems with either. I love the RB guitar, and the GH2 X-plorer still works perfectly fine.

This is kind of sad, really. You'd have thought that a year after Rock Band came out, if you were going to make Guitar Hero: Rock Band Edition, you'd be able to at least top what has been done before. I was planning on purchasing at least the disc, but I'll hold off for now and pick it up when it's down in the $40 range.

What I'm most curious about is the drum set. If I do pick up the game I only want to use one drum set. How do the GHWT drums work on RB? Do the RB2 drums with the extra cymbals work like a normal set in GHWT (ie: 5 pads)? While the extra cymbals don't provide extra notes in RB now, Harmonix said it's not out of the realm of possibility in future games. That would give RB2 sets up to 7 pads + bass + open/closed cymbals.

I haven't tried the drums yet but since i've read a few posts no that say the drums are FUBR I'm going to have to plug them in today and try them and decide what to do but since Ducci says Activision return policy is suck i'm not looking forward to it.

i picked up the ps3 ghwt + guitar set yesterday. i already have rb1 and dont really use the drums much anyway so i skipped the drum this time around. i always preferred the gh guitar to the rb one. this new ghwt guitar is awesome. much higher quality plastic (compare to rb), frets feel good, the longer strum bar feels great, the star power palm button is awesome, size/weight are great. i havent tried it with rb1 yet but i believe its compatible. if not, its atleast compatible with rb2 which ill probably get anyway. the game itself seems pretty good so far. nothing revolutionary but still fun. havent tried the song creator thing but have read its kinda cumbersome.

I just setup my drums and played for about 45min straight and had no problems so I'm keeping my fingers crossed I got a good batch as I don't really want to have to deal with Activision's RMA process.

ugh why can't they just make fake instruments that work. It's not like it's rocket science. Looks like i'm gonna hold off on this now, 3 tool songs are not worth the potential of dealing with more broken instruments.

Went by BB hoping they had a GHWT setup but they didn't :(.

Can't wait until I can try out the drum set.

i think the sets are different when you are playing single player verses band mode (local multi)...not 100% on that though.

I dont have any issues with my drumset, hopefully i got a good batch.
