Guitar Hero/Rockband questions

We just got a Wii a while back after seeing my friend play Guitar Hero:LOR. I did also pick up LoR. I'm also planing to get a PS3 fairly soon.

I'd like to get into the whole band thing - drums, bass, guitars - Rockbands and GH, but they seem to be available for some consoles and not others. Or maybe I'm not looking hard enough.

I think I want to concentrate on 1 console for all this, and not have it spread around. Unless there's a reason to?

Is there a good argument to start buying all of the stuff on one console and not another? Is availability all the same (i.e. quantity of games?) The guitars and drums are not inter-changeable between GH and RB, right? besides the better graphics on the PS3, which is a definite plus, is there any reason to buy everything for the PS3 and not the Wii? or vice versa?

Thanks!

I wouldn't get any of those for the Wii. You will be severely limited on buying new songs and such if you get the wii version, which IMO is the best draw to the music games. I only have a 360 so I can't say how the cross compatibility is on the PS3 but I think it's a bit limited.

Also, I say go for rockband over guitar hero world tour. There are a lot more decent songs on the rockband side of things if you decide in the future you want more game.

Thanks for the comments, guys. Yeah, I have to admit, when I asked the guy if he could download any songs via the Wii, he said no. I was a little surprised. I guess I'll eventually just sell my GH on the Wii and just start buying everything for the PS3

Quickly looking at the Matrix (thanks a lot for the link), for the PS3, looks like the GH guitars have the best compatibility, and the Rockband drums. Might be a piecemeal solution, but hey, at least you won't have to have multiple setups.

Rockband 2 and GHWT have downloadable songs on the Wii. (Well, RB2 isn't out yet, but it will.)

(The PS3 versions might still be your best bet, though.)

I'd stick with the PS3 and get the Guitar Hero WT instruments. I love the new Would Tour guitar.
