Most of my friends have the guitar that comes with the game, but I've been looking into Wireless for more freedom. However, most of the reviews I've read said that reception is bad and will drop out from time to time. I need a guitar to work for both GH I and II. I saw a guitar called The Hammer on eBay last night that looked badarse, but can't find it online anywhere. Any info? What suggestions do you have? I'm ready to rock out.

I'm not sure if Red Octane has any other variations, since they made the original. I know they always had the best dance pads for DDR (short of buying the ones made of metal). Just do NOT get anything Mad Catz. Ever.

QFT on mad catz! Way too many bad experiences with their ps2/gamecube controllers.... cheap stuff! I'll look at the Red Octane versions.

I have the Red Octane made wireless one I picked up at wal-mart. I havent used the wired one, prior to getting guitar I was using the regular ps2 controller bu for the life of me couldnt find a wired Guitar in my area that didnt come with the game. I alread had the game and didnt really need 2 and since the wireless one was $10 less the the wired with the game and couldnt find the wireless one on its own without having it shipped and waiting for it and I said screw it.

With that said my thoughts on the guitar itself are great, never had a problem with it since owning it (over a month now for sure), played the piss out of it hard, never had a loss of signal that I could tell, and has a decent range. All in all I would recommend the one made by the makers of the game, even came with batteries in the box, and should for what I paid :p

Just head to wally world and tonight and over the weekend can be playing with it and not wait for it to be shipped to you, and besides whats your time worth? Im sure it has to be worth more then the $10 your saving and the quality difference that may be found between the ebay one and the real deal ;)

OH and may want to call your wal-mart(s) ahead of time. It still a pretty hot item and only one out of 3 stores near me had the one with the game and the wireless one and only had one of each left.

Thx Funboy. I just looked at RedOctane.com and they have 10% off when you add an item to the cart and free shipping over $100. Still cheaper than eBay. I won't have my ps2 for a few days anyway so I don't mind the wait. It comes to $58 shipped for a wireless guitar. That sounds like a plan to me.

Do you guys recommend picking up GH 1 or 2 first? I'm thinking I'll try the original for a while.

edit: I'm getting the GH2 package w/ 1 wireless and 1 wired controller. It's $125 shipped no tax. I figured it'd be more fun with a friend jammin w/ me.

They are both excellent games, you need to just get them both, at first the 2nd one will seem like the song choices suck but not long after it will grow on you, and playing in medium is cool with the "encore" feature in the 2nd on that the first doesnt have at all.

Just be ready to forget your life for the next feew months, once your start it will be very hard to put down, I find myself starting a game and say "I'll play a few then go get some work done", 9 hours later Im forcing myself to stop so I can get ready for bed :p
