Activision is diluting the entire genre by releasing so many versions: Greatest hits, Metallica, Aerosmith, 80's and rumors of other bands are just simply "cash-ins". I really don't think it's fair to compare all of those to one separate Beatles RB game.

*cough*AC/DC*cough*

The AC/DC pack is importable into Rock Band, basically it's just DLC you have to buy a code for. I never even used the disk. No word yet on whether the Beatles will be importable, but I hope so. The "Rock Band as a platform" strategy is one of the reasons Rock Band is much better than GH:WT.

That is 100% your opinion. If I just wanted a drinking game to play with my buddies then yeah RB is better. If I wanted a fully fleshed out single player game that provides a challenge and a ton of unlockables then GHWT is the way to go. Making broad generalizations like you did is what causes your foot to find it's way into your mouth in social settings.

Anyhow, I recommend you all boycott this new game for GH anyways, which should be easy enough for the RB fanboy. And before you ask, I have both.

Do Not Support Greedy Rich Musicians!!!

Stop crying because someone didn't want you stealing their work and stop trying to be an internet tough guy. Maybe you'll get over yourself in your week away.

Music games are cool but they'll need to do something to keep things fresh and even if they don't, music games never get old, DDR hasn't changed its core gameplay for more than a decade and it's still fun to play.

The thing is, the market is getting kind of saturated, Van Halen, Greatest Hits, Beatles and who knows what other bands they'll sign (or what other concept they'll come up with) to make spin offs. I always thought it'd be cool if they added tycoon mechanics to career mode so that you play your band and manage it like an economy based business simulation.

Maybe they can do something with the instruments, maybe make it more like a real guitar and make it string based somehow, I don't know, there's tons of potential for band music games, releasing
separate versions of the same game for every successful band is not the way to go though.

Congratulations, you have discerned that my preference for one music game over another is an opinion. I commend you for this fine piece of detective work.
