I buy my games once a year around Thanksgiving / Christmas because gamestop does a buy 2 / get 1 free on used game. Last year I bought 2 new games.. rock band & guitar hero.

I played mos of my old games to make sure they worked and just opened up guitar hero. I beat the game but, I'm having a really difficult time. When I hold down the red & blue buttons for a combo note.. I have to hold them down for at least a second before the note arrives or they won't play. If I strum down instead of up the yellow key button goes off for extended notes. I kept wondering why I couldn't play long red / green notes and then noticed when I strum down yellow goes off 1/2 a second after I hit the note.

Since I bought the game in November.... will gamestop take the guitar back for a new one? Is there a return policy by EA? Anyone else have problems with their guitar???

I remember when rock band came out... EA setup a return web site for broken equipment. Does Activision have the same thing for Guitar Hero 3?

This is a long shot considering you bought Rock Band, too, but if it is the Wii version of GH3, Activision has been offering a full refund because of other production problems.

Other than that, I'm not sure of Activision's warranty on their controllers.

My Guitar Hero 3 controller has NEVER been 100% reliable, as the contacts between the neck and body of the controller are quite loose and sometimes that causes a held note to cut out or occasionally stop registering all together. Making the guitar separable was such a terrible design decision, is there anyone that actually disassembles their guitar between uses? So stupid.

Unfortunately... not the Wii version. I only have a 360. Sounds like we have similar guitar problem.. Sometimes guitar will cut on other long notes too!

Tried taking apart the neck of the guitar and cleaning it?

Not yet... I'll try that when I get home. I opened up the box and popped the neck in 3 months ago and just started using it a couple days ago. Is there a button I need to push to take it apart?

tried calibration? if you using a lcd, could be a delay

I have a DLP? 50" Samsung?

My buddy has the same TV and he has massive delays on his wii. I could not figure out why I couldn't hit a tennis ball then I started paying attention to my character and learned I had to swing about 1-2 seconds in advance.

There is a switch next to the neck of the guitar. Move it, remove and clean.

Cool... Trying this when I get home. Maybe it's time for a new TV. I had no ideas there may be delays. i was kicking ass in the game (on easy, LOL) until the long red / green chords.

for contact issues between the neck and body there 3 things you can do.

Low tech: rubber band, you have to stick/glue one of those picture hangers hooks on the body, then use a rubber band to tighten the connection between the neck and body.

Medium tech: loosen the neck screws (need toryx screwdriver) first 4 or 5, move the pcb contact of the neck in front of the tabs instead of behind it. Now the contact is more snug.

High Tech: solder the points permanently.

I did the medium tech one since it is easier and I already had the screw driver already.

Just google this problem and you will arrive at the website I found with pics
