Guitar Hero Greatest Hits Revealed

So, let me get this straight. This game will consists of 48 songs which are all retreads from older Guitar Hero games (albeit updated for full band play), but they will not be importable into GH:WT (ala RB1/RB2) and the downloadable content isn't compatible between GHWT and GHGH. What a pain in the ass. Rock Band is going to continue to own Guitar Hero with releases like this. They should have just made this whole pack DLC for GH:WT for $30 or something.

What utter crap. Man. GH went down after GH2. GH3=meh, Aerosmith=fail GHWT=meh and this is fail.

I don't have a problem with this at all.... They're finally using master tracks for some of these good songs and not the incredibly crappy covers. I literally cannot play "Killing in the Name" on GH2 because the cover is just that bad. I do understand the desire to play (I sound like an exec 😱) on GHWT as I don't like switching discs either, but meh... I deal with it.

Guitar Hero has been dead to me since Activision acquired the franchise and proceeded to milk it for all it's worth and run it into a ground.

It is very clear that Harmonix was who made Guitar Hero great, and that is abundantely evident in how much better Rock Band is than Guitar Hero.

Depending on the final setlist, I may get this. I really hope that they will allow the WT tracks and dlc to be playable from this disc. That would entice me to get it more.

What activision doesn't get is there is still demand for a good GH game. I don't want a rockband repeat and that is why I have not bought GHWT. I want a good GH game with just guitar. Those games are still more fun to me than RB.

RB just gets boring with the guitar parts being way too easy. Drums are fun, but sometimes I just want to play great guitar songs.

I think it's cool they are bringing back some of the good content from the earlier games to include all the instruments but the fact that there isn't an option to import these into WT ruins it IMHO.

There are plenty of great guitar songs via DLC.

Did you not read the OP at all? They aren't compatible.

I'm not buying a $150 game in order to download a few guitar songs for more money.

Fact is, I don't want another drumset/guitar/mic. I already have one, I want another great GH game that just focuses on guitar.

They are not forcing you to buy the band bundle, you know, you can get GH:WT game only.

First, it's a $60 game as it's compatible with the GH guitars as well as the RB ones. If you have one then you only need the game. Fact is, RB has everything GH has and more. I don't think you could be any more of a blind fanboy suckling at the GH tit.

dont' know what you are talking about, of course on this board if someone disagrees with anyone on the console forum, they are automatically a fanboy.

I have RB 1 and 2, they are fun games with people, but GH was a different kind of game. If you don't understand, then you don't understand. I have played through every song in both RB games and most in GHWT, it just isen't the same as the old GH series.

I got Rock Band 2 just the game and and guitar parts suck to it. It always feels off and not calibrated to me compared to Guitar Hero and I have tried numerous times to calibrate in game. Never fixes it, thats the only thing that killed Rock Band for me because I care about the guitar parts only. Oh well, modded xbox ftw.

I dont like GHWT as much, the GUI sucks and the song list is pathetic. So instead, I went out and bought RB2 and started playing that with the GHWT drum kit (far superior to RB's) and the entire kit. It works well.

I played and enjoyed GH3. WT was terrible and as such, I will never be buying another GH game.

I guess I don't understand then, as I've had all the GH and RB games other than world tour and thought RB did everything GH did in the way of guitar, except with the option of other instruments and more songs. I don't see how one can love GH so much more when they play the same and RB just has more stuff you can choose to use or not.

GH definitely had a more "gamey" feel to it than Rock Band. By that I mean, it wasn't trying to be a "rock band simulation", but more of an arcadey-"look how fast my fingers can move" experience.

The guitar charts are much more difficult - usually just for the sake of being difficult.

You know, one thing that is good about this whole GH franchise is that all the newer installments of the game drop in price like a rock very shortly after release. So if you have a little patience these still good games can be had at deep discount and enjoyed while sticking it to Activision by not paying the full retail price or buying it used.
Let's see the latest used prices for GH franchise at Amazon (I will use Xbox 360 platform as an example):
GHII: $13.95
GHIII: $11.79
GH Aerosmith: $8.99
GHWT: $19.99

At the same time, RB2, released even before GHWT is still valued at $40 used. If only Activision would realize that platform concept used by Rock Band is so much more desired by gamers then the disk installments.
I'm looking forward to playing GH Metallica and GH Greatest Hits at about $20 a pop in less then 6 months after release.

I love both GH and RB... and depending on what tracks they put in this I'll probably buy it. Especially if there is a lot of GH1 tracks... since I'd love to have GH1 on my xbox. I had it for my PS2 (that's the game that got me over from a PC gamer to console).. .but my PS2 is broken now 🙁.

The Guitar Hero franchise seems like it is run by retarded apes. I am ignoring the franchise completely and just sticking with Rock Band 2. Not even 3 tool songs were enough for me to buy into their crap.

I really enjoy WT a lot and like the fact it has so much stuff to unlock is fun. I used the ninja outfit to make a spiderman character...lol

As for this, it is kinda lame but there is a lot of good stuff in the game already so no big loss.

I hated GHWT so much that I returned it...thank you Costco. I will skip this too but I don't see how I can not buy GH Metallica
