I want to buy a 2nd PS2 controller for xmas for my friend. I don't want to buy the cheapy generic ones but I have no idea which one is good. Any recommendations? I understand there are wireless guitars now but might buy one if they are exceptionally good compared to regular wired ones.

thanks

Personally, I stuck to the regular wired controller as the wireless ones I looked at at the time A.) the keys didn't feel right and B.) there was a timing difference due to the wireless system.

I have the red octane PS2 wireless guitar and I love it. Works quite well, no lag, and I like the feel of the buttons on this one better than the wired. Either way, you won't have to worry about anything as long as you don't get a 3rd party controller.

the best controllers are the SG's (the wired ones that came with gh1 and gh2). some of them have shiny looking fret buttons and some have duller, non-shiny ones that feel stiffer. the shiny ones are better. typically i would say the black ones are the best (gh1), but the red ones (gh2) are also very good; it really depends on the specific controller though, because they're not all made the same; some, as i've pointed out, have different fret buttons, and on some of them the strum bars feel different. the strum bar thing is a personal preference though...

but yeah, if he doesn't care *that* much the wireless red octane one is pretty decent. still...if you could get an sg...that's the best.

Pretty much a myth... but if you believe there is then it won't feel right.

Personally the basic, original guitars are my favorite, although ALL of them have their own unique feel to them.
