Activision has announced plans for a new Guitar Hero title, casting aside the franchise's reputation for offering a wide breadth of rocking tracks in favor of highlighting a single band ? Aerosmith.

I like Aerosmith well enough but an entire game dedicated to them? I don't see myself buying this game unless it's 20 bucks and I stumble accross a used copy.
 
Man... I've pretty much sworn not to give Activision any more money for this series since the whole guitar compatibility & DLC bundle pack fiascos, but Aerosmith is my fiancee's favorite band. I think that if I didn't buy it, this would be her first ever video game purchase for herself. 😛
 
No thanks. I'll stick with RB. I'd rather pay for the DLC I want and not have to buy a whole nother game. Maybe I'd rent it.
 
BTW--when we interviewed Tommy Tallarico on the show, he mentioned that he was working with his cousin (Steven Tyler) on a game--I have to guess that this is it. 🙂

But I have to say, if EA released a greatest hits for Aerosmith (not that that would happen as I imagine that there is some exclusive deal with Activision or something) for Rock Band, it would blow this out of the water. You would have the full band set and it would most likely cost less (if you already own RB).
 
This will probably be the best thing my brother sees all day... being that Aerosmith is his favorite band (owns every single CD of theirs :Q).

Personally, I think it should be sold as a huge DLC pack. Maybe costing $20 or something? The only issue is DLC that costs a lot like that may be a deterrent because people think of DLC as something "relatively cheap" and "minor," so releasing a huge Aerosmith pack might actually be bad and that's why they decided to do it as a game. I just hope they charge $40 for it, which I think might be relatively fair as long as it comes with more achievements 😛.
 
That sucks, but Dream On might be fun. Good thing that's the free track! I've never really enjoyed playing Oreosmith songs anyway, so this is a big drag. I wish someone would land a deal with the persons with AC/DC licensing rights and get some of their tracks into a game.
 
One of the best things about GH from GH1 on has always been the great variety of music. The games have opened up a lot of people to bands they may never have given a listen to without these games.... if they continue down this road of one band per game, they will lose that. I love Aerosmith, but I'm just not crazy about this idea.

However, they did say that the game would feature not only Aerosmith songs, but also songs by bands that Aerosmith had played with or been influenced by... so it could be that the game will feature a handful of "greatest hits" mixed in with a variety of bands who had some influence on the band over the years and it might help make the game turn out ok afterall.

Either way I'm sure I won't be able to resist buying it, unless I somehow don't get it on opening day and the initial PR is really terrible.
 
No thanks. Aerosmith isn't a band I normally enjoy listening to. They've got a few songs that are decent but largely, they just aint for me.
 
This will suck as bad as Rock the 80's did. It'll be a stupid, stripped down version of the game with half as many songs, and 90% of them nobody will give a damn about.... and it will cost at least $50.

Thanks for letting me know about it, I've made an effort to stop keeping up on news during the weekend. OF course, I may have just missed that it was announced during the week 🙂
 
aerosmith = one of the greatest bands ever. Not sure that I'll buy the game, though. Maybe for GH: Beatles edition.
 
So they rerecorded the song for this game... that was the only aerosmith song i liked by them, back when tyler's voice didn't sound like fingernails being scratched on a chalkboard. Now they've gone and made this one unlistenable
 
Ok, let me tell you what sucks about putting out a completely new game, I HAVE TO SWAP OUT DISCS! Jesus, just put out DLC. I like the integration into a game I already have. It irritates me enough switching between RB and GH. :|
