Guitar Hero 3 is ridiculous.

This game should not have such high specs for being the game it is. I can't run it on my computer because my CPU is an athlon xp 3200. Even if it's a crappy processor it should still be able to run GH3. I can run Crysis, but not well at all. At least i can freaking PLAY it. The Video card requirement is 8800 GT or 2600. Pretty stupid in my opinion. I think they're just loosing money for the casual gamer that happens to like Guitar Hero. Instead they're just trying to boost hardware sales by creating ridiculous requirements for games that don't need half of what they say.

just a crappy port to milk series for even more money. If time was spent with it a Geforce 3 could/should be able to run it with 512mb and a 1ghz CPU.

That's crazy...
I'm assuming it's got the 360/PS3 graphics, not the Wii/PS2 in which case I could understand needing slightly beefier hardware but 8800GT or a 2600 should be overkill.

Is that the official requirement? The 8800GT and 2600 are completely different classes of cards.

there was some discussion of this in an earlier guitar hero 3 thread
but the consensus was like you said

you would think people writing the specs should know the hardware they're designing for no?

If it makes you feel any better, GH3 runs great on my PS2.
PS2 specs:
CPU: 128-bit "Emotion Engine" (300MHz) with multiple co-processors
RAM: 32MB Rambus DRAM, 4MB Video RAM

A crackhead could do a better PC port.

And that is why is pisses me off so much. I played it perfectly fine, and smoothly on my cousins PS2, yet i can't play it on my PC which (when i bought it) cost 8x as much as a PS2?
Absolutely nuts.

This game burps all the time and I end up missing notes on my pc in my sig. You would think this game would be smooth as silk with my specs, but nooooooooo. It hiccups here and there and everytime it does I miss a beat. Glad I just bought the game cheap and use my Xbox 360 controller on my PC. Now if only they would make GH2 for the PC, much better song list than GH3 (360 GH2 song list, not the skewed other consoles) :)
