Guitar dudes chime in - acoustic pickups

Just looking to see what you fellow players use in your acoustics as far as pickups go. I'm finally looking into putting one into my D28. I strictly play restaurants/bar scenes with it. A buddy who I gig with has his own PA system that I'll be plugging directly into - I'm not quite sure what it is. I am looking into buying a nice acoustic amp in the near future, but for now I will be doing the PA thing. In the past I've had my guitar mic'd but it's just becoming a PITA. The two pickups I'm looking at are the K&K western mini and the LR Baggs M1. I've also heard good things about the Fishman Aura setup but haven't really looked into it. I am not so much interested in what kind of work needs to be done but more about the SOUND I'll be getting. Does anyone here actually have any of these pickups mentioned on their axe? Any input is appreciated....

They all sound like shit, imo. Just about everyone I know who records acoustics mics them, or double mics them. I think they're fine for gigging, though.
