Will I damage my amp (some small Marshall beginner/practice amp) if I plug my iPod into the "input" slot (as opposed to the "CD in" slot)? Just curious...

It will sound like a fart? I'm confused.

Have the volume on the ipod all the way down when you do. Then slowly work it up a little, then start working up the volume on the amp. You want a lower powered signal going into the amp, then use the amp to do the amplification, this'll keep it from getting all wonky sounding.

it won't damage nothing, it'll just sound god awful. maybe good for like a bass speaker.

I don't think it'll sound bad, just weak. The CD jack is probably an amplified slot, where the input is probably just a line-in slot.

It's pretty lame really...I bought some headphones a while back with a 1/8" plug to 1/4" plug converter and I just wanted to play around with it (distorting songs, etc.). And yeah...it does sound terrible D:

Thanks for all the replies.
