it's only awesome if done right.

You can't do a Guinness draught head wrong. It's not carbonated like other beers. You just have to wait for it to settle. That's why you use "beer gas" (75% Nitrogen/ 25% Carbon Dioxide).

Also, you can't to a Black and Tan with the Guinness Extra Stout (in the short bottles) and get the beer to stay seperated.

It's be nice if some places around here knew how to pour it. Almost hurts to see a bartender fill the whole glass with one pull of the tap handle.

Yeah, even *most* of the people who do it in two pours do it improperly as well. After you fill the glass 2/3rd full (just above the yellow line) you are suppose to let it settle and then top it off by pushing the tap handle backwards (instead of pulling it forwards), this way less gas is released while it tops off.

Edit: to clarify, just above the bottom/first yellow line)

Guiness is a hard beer to drink out in public for me. While everyone else is out to get sh1tfaced by downing 10 Bud Lights (eck!) I prefer to sit and sip on maybe three Guiness beers, four tops. They're heavy, so I find I enjoy them more when I'm out because they allow me to NOT get drunk, just enjoy a good beer, and watch others make asses out of themselves.

Though I don't go out much anymore being a full time single Dad, so I guess I'm not a Guiness drinker anymore! I may have one or two every 6 months, but that's the only beer I'll drink......MAYBE a Heinikken if there's NOTHING else. I just tried a Sam Adams the other day when a friend and I went out. I didn't care for it, but she liked it.
