The new Draught system bottle is better than the can. The old bottle with no widget they tasted crappy.

I've been staying away from the bottles because someone here said the Guinness Draught bottled version tasted flat. I bought both the cans and bottles tonight. The bottles have the "rocket widget" filled with the nitrogen and it tasted just as good as the canned.

So too all those in doubt, you can get the bottles too. :)

YAGT = Yet Another GUINNESS thread? ;)

I had a bottle of the old Flying Dog Doggie Style today...it was quite good (loves the sweet malty taste!)

Tis good!

Also a better deal.

4 pack cans about $6.50

6 pack of bottles around $7.20

It looks like a ping pong ball. It has a pinhole in it. When the can/bottle is pressurized, some of the beer gets squeezed into the widget. When it's opened, the pressure drops, and the beer squirts out through the pinhole and gets churned into the fine foam that becomes the storm and head.

Can't say I'm a big fan of Guinness. It goes down great but I can't stand the bitterness.

If you like that, I'd recommend the following:

Young's Oatmeal Stout
Boddington's Pub Ale
Tetley's Ale

I guess goes to show the variety in palates. I can taste no bitterness in Guinness.
