People are exceptionally dumb about the benefits of fiber. The main benefit to most people(because they eat shit) is that it is a no-calorie filler and soluble fiber is an interfering "sponge" from absorbing some of what is eaten. The mind warping can fucking severe to the point people think it's like a chimmey sweep.

B-vitamins are fucking dime-a-dozen except for folate. Even Red Bull and Twinkies have them.

And yeah, maybe some lower cholesterol but alcoholic fatty liver is a thing too. LDL doesn't automatically clog things. It's a process of inflammation.

Also the "french paradox" could very well be explained by their dairy consumption. Menaquinone-4 is something mostly found in animal products(from bacterial metabolism).

Nutrition science moves slowly because there is no evisceration of the the mistakes or crises the manufacturer. Like a mechanic that "I care about fixing things for you" but constantly breaks new things or convinces people to check out a meaningless squeal from the breaks, such is the state of nutrition science. And in some cases, the mechanics don't want you to continue driving your car(that's for the vegan scientists and nutritionists who care more about the environment than human health).

It's an acquired taste. :p
Yeah, i know. I just haven't acquired it yet. Probably never will at this point.

I kinda get a laugh outta one of my co-workers. He always has to tell you when he had Guinness, which is mostly what he drinks from the sounds of it. He can't just say he had a couple beers, unless he wasn't drinking Guinness.

Guinness was the first beer I really liked. I've come to enjoy most beer that's ≥Yuengling in quality, but Guinness is still my favorite.

There are much better stouts out there.

Yeah. I dislike all beers that aren't stouts, and Guiness was my gateway stout, as it probably is for most stout drinkers. I'll still get it when at a bar, but I have tried much richer and better stouts, Guiness is almost a bit watery compared to them. Left Hand brewery makes some good ones which are priced reasonably and are available in quite a few places. I like their milk stout and their peanut butter stout.

Fun fact:

people used to only drink beer (about 400 years ago until the 1800s) because it was not only nutritious but the alcohol killed any microorganisms in the water.

"Alcohol is toxic." - my physical therapist sister.

Alcohol has considerable toxic effects on the digestive- and cardiovascular systems. Alcoholic beverages are classified as carcinogenic by the International Agency for Research on Cancer and increase the risk of several cancer types.

Is alcohol toxic to the human body?

An abundance of alcohol can harm the liver, whose job it is to break down harmful substances in the body. This can lead to hepatitis, jaundice and cirrhosis, which is the buildup of scar tissue that eventually destroys the organ. Alcohol may cause kidney, bladder and prostate inflammation.Jan 11, 2019

Besides all that, Guinness or beer, ale, etc. are relatively "empty calories," do I have to explain what that means?

Guinness was the 1st and ONLY beer i like.
from my 1st sip, i loved it.

I drink Yuengling because it's considered domestic (lumped with Bud and Miller) and cheap during happy hr at my local bar.

I dont drink beer at home except during St Patty's Day and the weeks before it.
i buy a 24pack Guinness from Costco for $29.

Clearly it's not doing it's job properly then, needs to step it up a little! :p

Seriously though yeah excess alcohol is bad. Well even a small amount is worse than zero, but hey, got to live a little.
